LCMS Parent Advisory
The LCMS Parent Advisory Council is an important component of our success, where we strengthen the partnership between home and school. We work together to define and examine relevant issues within the school environment. The first meeting will occur on September 25th from 6:00 - 7:00 p.m. in the LCMS conference room. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for November 13th, January 22nd, and March 5th. Please let me know if you are interested in serving on the LCMS Parent Advisory Council!
Attending School is a Key to Success
We ask for families’ support in helping students meet the basic expectation of being at school and arriving on time every day. Regular school attendance supports a positive school experience! Our school doors open at 7:40, the warning bell rings at 7:50, and first period begins at 7:55. Students arriving to class after 7:55 are considered tardy, and a parent should submit a note explaining the reason for the tardiness. When students are absent, parents should also submit a note explaining the reason for the absence. Notes can be dropped off in the main office or emailed to [email protected].
Attending school consistently is not just a matter of fulfilling a requirement; it is a key factor in your child's educational journey. Here are some reasons why consistent school attendance is so important:
Academic Success: Regular attendance ensures that your child receives essential instruction and fully participates in the learning process. Consistency in attendance leads to better academic performance and a deeper understanding of the curriculum.
Building a Strong Foundation: Middle school lays the foundation for higher education and future success. Each day of school contributes to your child's academic and personal growth, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed for future challenges.
Social and Emotional Development: School is not just about academics; it is also a place for social interaction and emotional growth. Consistent attendance allows your child to form meaningful connections with peers and teachers, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
Preparation for High School: Middle school serves as a critical transition period before entering high school. Regular attendance helps your child develop the discipline and habits necessary for success in more advanced academic settings.
Life Skills: In addition to academic knowledge, school attendance teaches important life skills such as responsibility, time management, and accountability. These skills are invaluable for future success in both education and the workforce.
It's understandable that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and absences due to illness or family emergencies can be inevitable. However, we encourage you to prioritize attendance whenever possible and to communicate with the school when your child cannot attend. Again, you can use the email address [email protected] to communicate about attendance.
We appreciate your commitment to your child's education and well-being. By working together to prioritize regular school attendance, we can ensure that each student has the best opportunity for success.
Looking Ahead
There will be no school on Monday, September 2nd for the Labor Day holiday. I hope all of our Bobcats enjoy the day off!
We will have our LCMS Kindness Kickoff during the school day on Friday, September 6th! We will enjoy hearing from a special guest speaker. We will also have our first Olweus lesson (Bobcat Pride Time) of the year, and we will have Team Time with our grade levels! We will wear GREEN and GOLD to show our school spirit for the event. It will be an exciting day!
We are looking forward to another great week at LCMS! If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
