Working together, we can ensure your child’s growth and success!
#Kindness Month
Each October, we celebrate #Kindness Month here at Louisa County Public Schools. This month, we are launching a new initiative, Kindness For The Commonwealth, and we are collecting funds and other donations to support students, staff, and families with Grayson County Public Schools. Louisa County Middle School has adopted Independence Middle School. This school division in southwest Virginia was tremendously impacted by flooding caused by Hurricane Helene and faces days, months, and years of recovery.
From October 21st to October 31st, we will be collecting supplies for the GCPS community, such as cleaning supplies, basic school supplies, canned food, and bottled water. Supplies can be dropped off at our front office. You can find a full list of recommended supplies on our division website,
lcps.k12.va.us.
Picture Day Makeups
Fall pictures are included in our annual yearbook, so students who did not have their picture taken on the original picture day are encouraged to participate in the makeup picture day, which will be on Tuesday, October 22nd. There will also be an opportunity for those who ordered pictures to have their picture retaken on that day.
Hometown Homecoming Parade: Thursday, October 24th
We hope to see our Bobcats at the Hometown Homecoming Parade in Mineral on Thursday, October 24th!
National School Bus Safety Week: October 21st-25th
As we celebrate National School Bus Safety Week, let's all take a moment to remind our students about the importance of staying safe on and around school buses. This week, we will reinforce safe bus practices to ensure every child's journey to and from school is a safe one.
Please join us in discussing bus safety with your children and encourage them to follow the rules that keep everyone safe secure. Together, we can ensure our students have a safe and enjoyable ride to and from school.
Socktober
Students can donate socks, winter hats, scarves, sweatshirts, jackets, and anything else to help stay warm this winter! Even a small act of love, such as donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors. Grade level bins are set up in the cafeteria for students to place their donations and participate in the grade level competition!
Remember, all items must be new. Donations will be accepted through Friday, October 25th.
School-Wide Costume Theme: Mickey and Minnie!
For Thursday, October 31st, students and staff are invited to unite in a school-wide theme in the spirit of fun --
Mickey and Minnie! Whether Bobcats want to dress up as the iconic duo or simply wear red and black, we can't wait to see some Disney magic in our school through these classic characters!
*If they choose, students may each receive a
Mickey/Minnie headband, which they will receive in homeroom class on Wednesday, October 30th. (Students may dress up on Thursday, October 31st, as long as dress code guidelines are followed and there are no Halloween masks.)
