LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, October 31st will be a B day.

We will have an after school dance on Friday, November 4th! We have had a blast at our first two dances, so we are looking forward to another great time with our Bobcats! Permission forms must be turned in by 1:20 (the end of lunch shifts) on Thursday, November 3. Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the dance. The $10 fee will include admission to the dance and one student admission to the LCHS Varsity home football game against Goochland in the Jungle! Kickoff for the game will be at 7:30 and gates will open at 6:00. Parents/guardians will pick up students from the dance at 5:30 at the cafeteria entrance of LCMS, which is accessed in the side parking lot. Parking is limited in the side lot. It is recommended that you park in the front lot and walk around to the side entrance, especially if you are staying for the football game. The football game ticket will be given to students when they are picked up from the dance. We are excited to have some social time with our Bobcats, followed by cheering on our Lions in the Jungle!

Tryouts for wrestling and boys basketball will take place soon. Tryouts for wrestling will be after school on November 9th and 10th. Tryouts for boys basketball will be after school on November 9th for 6th grade, November 10th for 7th grade, and November 14th for 8th grade. Callbacks will be on November 15th. A current VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2022, is required for all conditioning/tryout events. Please see our LCMS athletics website for more information.

At Louisa County Public Schools, we have a deep appreciation for our military and the veterans who have fought for the freedoms we enjoy each day. As we approach Veterans Day, we invite our Bobcat families to fill out a nomination form recognizing members of your family or friends group that are veterans. Our Bobcats have written letters of appreciation and we will be mailing the letters to all who are nominated. Please complete the Honoring our Veterans Form to nominate veterans you know and include their mailing addresses for them to receive a letter from our Bobcats. You can also upload a photo to be included in a special slideshow.

Parents: Did you know that creating routines can help improve your child's attendance?

Evening Tips:
-Lay out clothes, bookbags, and the charged Chromebook the night before school
-Use open-ended questions to talk to your child about their day

Morning Tips:
-Have easy "grab and go" breakfast options for those rushed mornings
(granola bars/fruit), and remember that breakfast & lunch are free of charge for all TeamLCPS students!
-Have a backup plan if your child misses the bus
-Keep all items for school in one area

Absences add up! Missing just two days each month means a child misses 10% of the school year. We hope to see all of our Bobcats at school on time every day!

The Virginia Department of Education has asked all school divisions to share information concerning the Child Tax Credit for low-income families. The deadline to apply for this credit is coming up on November 15th, so be sure to visit our school website, where we have posted a link with more information.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
