LCMS Principal Update for Sept. 4, 2022

LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Our LCMS Kindness Kickoff Day was a special day! From Team Time in the gym to our guest speaker’s message in the LCHS Alan Jackson Theater, and also our first Olweus lesson of the year, we spent meaningful time together setting the tone for our school year that Kindness Matters. We were reminded to use our words to help others, to think before we speak and act, and that when we work together, everyone achieves more. We also just had a lot of fun together! Be sure to ask your child about what the day entailed! The takeaway challenge from Silent Strength is: “Today, my positive actions will speak louder than all of my words.”

There will be no school on Monday, September 5 for the Labor Day holiday. I hope all of our Bobcats enjoy the day off! Tuesday, September 6 will be a B Day.

Students will take home Interim Reports on Friday, September 9. Review the report with your child and contact teachers with any questions or concerns. I also encourage you to frequently monitor your child’s academic progress by using the online PowerSchool Parent Portal where you are able to see the detailed grade book for each class, as well as attendance and tardy information. Working together, we can ensure your child’s growth and success!

Friday, September 9 will be Hat Day! Students may pay $1 upon arrival at school to wear a hat for the whole day! Proceeds of the day will be used for our float in the Hometown Homecoming Parade later in the fall!

LCMS Bobcats will be participating with staff in a community service activity on the first asynchronous learning day, Wednesday, September 14, as a way to give back to our supportive community. We will be working together to clean up the campus around the middle school, the LCHS stadium, and the areas around the Louisa County Library and Central Office. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to be involved in a community service project. Please review and submit the permission form for your child to participate.

The first LCMS Parent Advisory Council meeting will take place on September 14th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the LCMS Forum. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for October 12th, November 9th, December 7th, January 11th, February 8th, and March 8th. Please contact me if you are interested in serving on the LCMS Parent Advisory Council.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
