Monday, December 9th will be a B Day.
It is hard to believe that we are on the last stretch of the first semester! As we approach winter break, let’s work together to support your student in a strong finish of the second grading period. This next week and a half is an important time to review PowerSchool and ensure that all assignments are being turned in. Please contact teachers if you have any questions or concerns. Bobcats are encouraged to continually put forth their best effort!
School attendance continues to be important as well. Attending school consistently is not just a matter of fulfilling a requirement; it is a key factor in your child's educational journey. Here are some reasons why consistent school attendance is so important:
Academic Success: Regular attendance ensures that your child receives essential instruction and fully participates in the learning process. Consistency in attendance leads to better academic performance and a deeper understanding of the curriculum.
Building a Strong Foundation: Middle school lays the foundation for higher education and future success. Each day of school contributes to your child's academic and personal growth, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed for future challenges.
Social and Emotional Development: School is not just about academics; it is also a place for social interaction and emotional growth. Consistent attendance allows your child to form meaningful connections with peers and teachers, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.
Preparation for High School: Middle school serves as a critical transition period before entering high school. Regular attendance helps your child develop the discipline and habits necessary for success in more advanced academic settings.
Life Skills: In addition to academic knowledge, school attendance teaches important life skills such as responsibility, time management, and accountability. These skills are invaluable for future success in both education and the workforce.
It is understandable that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and absences due to illness or family emergencies can be inevitable. However, we encourage you to prioritize attendance whenever possible and to communicate with the school when your child cannot attend. When students are absent, parents should submit a note explaining the reason for the absence. Notes can be dropped off in the main office or emailed to
[email protected].
We appreciate your commitment to your child's education and well-being. By working together to prioritize regular school attendance, we can ensure that each student has the best opportunity for success.
Potential Interest Survey: Marine Corps JROTC Program
TeamLCPS is exploring the possibility of bringing a Marine Corps JROTC program to Louisa County High School. This program focuses on leadership development, teamwork, and life skills like responsibility, communication, and self-discipline. It is important to know that JROTC does not require students to commit to a military career—it is about helping them grow as leaders and build skills for their future. As we consider this opportunity, we want to hear from students to gauge interest. If a program were to be established next school year, there is the potential it could service 8th grade students in addition to high school students, so we are surveying students from 7th to 11th grade. Students will receive an email with the link to the optional survey.

School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions
Our school, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Virginia Department of Education, is conducting the Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions. We will survey students in grades 6, 7, and 8, as well as classroom instructors and staff, between January 27 and February 7. The purpose of this survey is to measure student support, student engagement, school discipline, and safety conditions in each school. This information will be used to guide educational practices that produce a safe and supportive school environment. Please view the
informational letter to read more about the survey, and please notify the school office by telephone or letter by January 24, 2025 if you do not wish for your child to participate.
LCMS PTA Membership Drive
