LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, February 24th will be an A Day.

English Benchmark Test on Tuesday, February 25th
Bobcats in grades 6, 7, and 8 will take the English benchmark test on Tuesday, February 25th. We will have an alternate bell schedule, which will slightly impact lunch shift times. It is always important for students to bring their fully charged Chromebooks to school, and it will be especially important on Tuesday for the English benchmark test!

New Exploratory Wheel Begins for Sixth Grade Bobcats on Wednesday, February 26th (New Date)
The fifth exploratory rotation (E5) will now begin for sixth grade students on Wednesday, February 26th. The exploratory wheel is a rotation of six classes that meet for six weeks each. Students can check out their PowerSchool Student Portal to see which class they have next!

Parent-Teacher Conferences on Wednesday, February 26th
Parent-teacher conferences will take place on Wednesday, February 26th from 3:45 to 7:00 p.m. I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to stay connected with your child’s teachers about your child’s academic progress. Conferences play an important role in fostering collaboration, understanding, and support in your child's educational journey. We are eager to connect with you as we partner to provide the best possible middle school experience!

On Wednesday, February 26th, from 4:00-7:00 p.m., the Career and Technical Education Department will be hosting students, parents, and community members at the annual CTE Showcase Night & STEAM Cup Challenge at LCHS. The night will run in conjunction with parent/teacher conferences at LCMS and LCHS. Come out and see students in action and all the great programs that are offered!

Family Life Education Letters
Family Life Education letters were given to students in Health/PE classes and should be returned by Friday, March 7th. Family Life lessons will begin the week of March 10th. If you have any questions, please contact your child's Health/PE teacher.

American Heart Challenge
The LCMS Health/PE Department kicked off our American Heart Challenge on February 1st! Students can join by going to their Health/PE Google Classroom.
Get ready to change and save lives! Register today and complete Finn’s Mission! The deadline is February 28.
Here are the steps to take today:
  1. Personalize your page: Log in and personalize your fundraising headquarters page. Upload a photo and explain why you’re supporting the American Heart Association.
  2. Lead by example: Make a personal donation to kick off your fundraising efforts.
  3. Ask for support: Send emails/texts and copy and paste your fundraising link into social media. Messages are already written for you in the AHA Schools app and your online headquarters!
Please take a few minutes to register your student for our American Heart Challenge (AHC) under Louisa County Middle School and learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR as a family at www.heart.org/schools. You can also join on the free app called “AHA Schools.”

Students who complete the steps to Finn’s Mission will earn an entry for a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl LX in 2026 and our school will be eligible for a chance to win a $10,000 fitness equipment makeover for every 18 students who complete Finn’s Mission!

ParentGuidance.org Resources
We are excited to share some valuable resources to help support your family's mental health and well-being this March. The Mental Health Series offers a variety of virtual webinars on critical topics such as anxiety, video game addiction, emotional regulation, and other topics. Additionally, don't miss out on a special live session with Dr. Kevin Skinner, Clinical Director and Co-Founder of Noble Health and ParentGuidance.org, on March 12th at 8:00 p.m., where you can ask questions about your child's mental health and receive expert advice.

All sessions are anonymous and designed to empower you with the tools you need. Register today!

Black History Month Video Competition
As Black History Month continues, Bobcats have joined their grade-level Google Classroom for the Black History Month contests using the links on the LCMS Student Start Page! Daily videos are being posted during February highlighting the achievements of African Americans. Students are carefully watching Edpuzzle videos and answering questions. Daily and weekly winners are being selected based on how well students score and how many videos they complete.

Looking Ahead:
LCMS Spring Picture Day will be on Thursday, March 6th.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
