LCMS Principal Weekly Update for Nov. 3, 2024
Posted on 11/03/2024
LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,
Monday, November 4th is a Staff Development Day and Tuesday, November 5th is Election Day. There will be no school for students on Monday or Tuesday. We look forward to seeing our Bobcats again on Wednesday, November 6th, which will be a B Day.
Clubs on Wednesday, November 6th
We will have clubs at the end of the day on Wednesday, November 6th! This is such an exciting time for our Bobcats where each student is involved in their unique activity, so we ask that parents and families avoid picking up students for an early dismissal after 2:15 if possible, since students will be in clubs.
LCMS PTA Board Meeting on Wednesday, November 6th
We warmly invite you to the LCMS PTA Board meeting on Wednesday, November 6th at 6:00 p.m. in the LCMS Forum. Your participation is invaluable as we discuss plans and initiatives to enhance our school community. We hope to see you there for an evening of collaboration and connection!
After School Dance on Friday, November 8th!
We will have an after school dance this Friday, November 8th until 5:30. Permission forms (linked here) must be turned in by Thursday, November 7th at 1:20. Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the dance. The $10 fee will include admission to the dance and one student admission to the LCHS Varsity home football game in the Jungle!
Parents/guardians will pick up students from the dance *beginning* at 5:30 at LCMS Door #2 (7th grade entrance). Early pickups are difficult because students are still dancing! We are excited to have some social time with our Bobcats, followed by cheering on our Lions in the Jungle!
First Responders Appreciation Night on Friday, November 8th
We also have another exciting event to share with all of our LCPS families. On Friday, November 8th, we will be celebrating First Responders Appreciation Night in The Jungle at Louisa County High School as our varsity football Lions host Goochland in The Jungle. At the event this Friday, we will be honoring all of our firefighters, EMS workers, law enforcement officers, and healthcare professionals.
Accordingly, we are inviting ALL of our local first responders to join us at Friday’s game! First, we’re hosting an honorary pregame cookout inside The Jungle for all first responders beginning at 6 p.m. We’re also giving all first responders entrance to the game for FREE, just show up in uniform or present your work ID badge.
This is going to be a special event and we’re going to be honoring our first responders throughout Friday’s game. So, if you’re a first responder and would like to attend, send an RSVP our way by emailing [email protected]. We hope to see you at The Jungle on Friday and thank you for your service!
Help Us “Stuff the Turkey”
Help support the Louisa Resource Council by bringing in non-perishable food in the next few weeks. Items could include canned items, pasta, peanut butter, applesauce, fruit cups, beans, rice, granola bars, pop tarts, and fruit snacks. Food will be distributed to local families for the holiday season. Donations will be accepted through Friday, November 22nd. Help us stuff the turkey!
Looking Ahead
On Monday, November 11th, we will wear red, white, and blue in honor of Veterans Day.
We are excited to invite you to a special Veterans Day chorus performance featuring our talented middle school students on Thursday, November 14th, at 6:30 p.m. in the LCMS Forum. Our chorus has been working hard to prepare a memorable evening of patriotic songs honoring those who have served our country. We encourage you to bring a veteran to share in this heartfelt tribute. Your presence and support mean the world to our students and will make the event even more special.
Wednesday, November 13th is World Kindness Day! We will have Bobcat Pride Time with an Olweus lesson during WIN block and we will wear our LCPS Kindness shirts! Students who are wearing a kindness shirt will be randomly selected for prizes from our Kindness Cart!
Interim Reports will come home with students on Friday, November 15th. As we progress through the school year, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions or concerns, or just to connect with them to hear about your child’s continued growth. You can monitor your child’s academic progress by using the online PowerSchool Parent Portal where you are able to see the detailed grade book for each class, as well as attendance and tardy information. Please call our office if you need assistance with logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal.
It will be another great week at LCMS! If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
