LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, October 28th will be an A Day.
We have a very exciting announcement to share! The LCMS float received 1st Place in the Louisa Hometown Homecoming Parade! We also received the award for the Best Mascot! Thank you to all of our Bobcats who participated in creating the float and to everyone who attended the parade!

New Exploratory Wheel Begins for Sixth Grade Bobcats on Thursday, October 31st
The third exploratory rotation (E3) begins for sixth grade students on Thursday, October 31st. The exploratory wheel is a rotation of six classes that meet for six weeks each. Students can check out their PowerSchool Student Portal to see which class they have next!

School-Wide Costume Theme: Mickey and Minnie!
For Thursday, October 31st, students and staff are invited to unite in a school-wide theme in the spirit of fun -- Mickey and Minnie! Whether Bobcats want to dress up as the iconic duo or simply wear red and black, we can't wait to see some Disney magic in our school through these classic characters!
*If they choose, students may each receive a Mickey/Minnie headband, which they will receive in homeroom class on Wednesday, October 30th.
(Students may dress up on Thursday, October 31st, as long as dress code guidelines are followed and there are no Halloween masks.)

#Kindness Month
We continue to celebrate #Kindness Month here at Louisa County Public Schools through our Kindness For The Commonwealth initiative. We are collecting funds and other donations to support students, staff, and families with Grayson County Public Schools. LCMS has adopted Independence Middle School in Grayson County. Flooding caused by Hurricane Helene tremendously impacted this school division in southwest Virginia, and the area faces days, months, and years of recovery.

Through October 31st, we are collecting supplies for the GCPS community, such as cleaning supplies, basic school supplies, canned food, and bottled water. Supplies can be dropped off at our front office. You can find a full list of recommended supplies on our division website, lcps.k12.va.us.

Chromebooks
Students need to bring their charged Chromebook to school every day. Parents and families, please support your child in establishing a routine for charging the device each night and ensuring that it is in their backpack each morning.
If a student has lost their Chromebook charger, the replacement cost is $35, and students may purchase a replacement from the Technology Assistance Center in the library. (Please note that lost chargers are not covered by insurance.)

Blue Ridge Virginia Governor’s School
8th Grade Students and Families: Applications for the Blue Ridge Virginia Governor's School are due on Friday, December 6th. The Blue Ridge Virginia Governor’s School (BRVGS) is a regional program for academically motivated, high-ability high school students from the counties of Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Louisa, Madison, Nelson, and Orange. The purpose of BRVGS is to serve the academic needs of a community of motivated, high-ability students through a variety of instructional strategies and learning opportunities that engage their interests and challenge their intellectual boundaries beyond a traditional high school experience.

Please contact Mrs. Floyd, LCMS Special Services School Counselor, with any questions: [email protected].va.us, 540-894-5457 ext 2061.

Attending School is a Key to Success
We ask for families’ support in helping students meet the basic expectation of being at school and arriving on time every day. Regular school attendance supports a positive school experience! Our school doors open at 7:40, the warning bell rings at 7:50, and first period begins at 7:55. Students arriving to class after 7:55 are considered tardy, and a parent should submit a note explaining the reason for the tardiness. When students are absent, parents should also submit a note explaining the reason for the absence. Notes can be dropped off in the main office or emailed to [email protected].va.us.

Looking Ahead
Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 3rd and we will turn our clocks back one hour. Monday, November 4th is a Staff Development Day and Tuesday, November 5th is Election Day and there will be no school for students.

Bobcats can look forward to our next after school dance on Friday, November 8th! Also on Monday, November 11th, we will wear red, white, and blue in honor of Veterans Day.

It will be another great week at LCMS! If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
