LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, September 16th will be an A Day. Wednesday, September 18th is an Asynchronous Learning Day and many of our Bobcats will be volunteering throughout our community! Thursday, September 19th will be an A Day.

Constitution Day on Tuesday, September 17th
Bobcat students and staff will wear red, white, and blue on Tuesday, September 17th for Constitution Day! Constitution Day became a national observance in 2004 when Senator Robert Byrd passed a bill designating September 17th as the day for citizens to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution and learn more about our founding document.
It has been wonderful to see our Bobcats’ creativity shine in the Patriotic Star Decorating Contest! Bobcats are also participating in a United States Constitution Video Competition by carefully watching Edpuzzle videos and answering questions. Videos must be completed by Tuesday, September 17th at 3:00. Winners will be selected based on how well students score and how many videos they complete!

Students have also been participating in United States Constituition Kahoot games! Winners will be chosen from the Bobcats with the highest scores! The Kahoot game closes on Monday, September 16th at 3:00.

Remind your child to visit the LCMS Student Start page and click the Constitution Day link to access the video competition and the Kahoot games!

Interim Reports Went Home on Friday
Interim reports were sent home with students on Friday, September 13th. Please review the report with your child and contact teachers with any questions or concerns. I also encourage you to frequently monitor your child’s academic progress by using the online PowerSchool Parent Portal where you are able to see the detailed grade book for each class, as well as attendance and tardy information. Working together, we can ensure your child’s growth and success!

New Exploratory Wheel Begins for Sixth Grade Bobcats on Thursday, September 19th
The second exploratory rotation (E2) begins for sixth grade students on Thursday, September 19th. The exploratory wheel is a rotation of six classes that meet for six weeks each. Students can check out their PowerSchool Student Portal to see which class they have next!

Blue Ridge Virginia Governor's School
An informational night will be held on Wednesday, October 16th at 6:30 p.m. in the LCMS Forum for 8th graders and parents interested in learning more about the Blue Ridge Virginia Governor's School. Seventh grade families are welcome to attend to get a jump start for their 8th grade year.

The Blue Ridge Virginia Governor’s School (BRVGS) is an academic year governor’s school that provides a challenging and differentiated program of studies in core academic subjects, emphasizing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program utilizes interactive video technology, field trips, and team coaching to create a regional community of learners from the counties of Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, Madison, and Orange. Methods of instruction and learning aided by technology will aim to put the student in control of his or her learning and education. Please contact Mrs. Floyd, Special Services School Counselor, with any questions: [email protected], 540-894-5457 ext 2061.
