LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,
Monday, April 28th will be an A Day.
On Tuesday, April 29th, 6th and 7th graders will take the Reading SOL tests. On Wednesday, April 30th, 8th graders will take the Reading SOL test. We wish our students the best on these tests! We will have an alternate bell schedule on Tuesday and Wednesday, which will slightly impact lunch shift times.

We ask for your support in ensuring your child is getting good rest, is coming to school prepared and ready to learn, and is continuing to work hard. The end-of-year SOL tests are an opportunity for students to show what they know and demonstrate readiness for the next grade level. Please discuss with your child the importance of putting forth their best effort!
Please ensure your student brings their fully charged Chromebook to school each day, especially on SOL testing days. If a student has lost their Chromebook charger, the replacement cost is $35, and students may purchase a replacement from the Technology Help Desk in the library.
LCMS PTA Sunshine Grams
The LCMS PTA is pleased to offer Sunshine Grams to spread sunshine and kindness! Sunshine Grams are the perfect way to brighten the day of friends, teachers, and staff! Sunshine Grams are rubber summer-themed ducks in a variety of colors. They are $1 each and are available online at https://lcmspta.givebacks.com until Friday, May 2nd! PTA representatives will offer in-person sales during lunch shifts on Tuesday, April 29th and Thursday, May 1st. Sunshine Grams will be delivered to homeroom classrooms or staff members by May 9th. Senders can share kind words and make others’ days brighter with Sunshine Grams!
Mental Health Awareness Walk: Friday, May 2nd
May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and the LCHS/LCMS Sources of Strength Clubs invite students to the Mental Health Awareness Walk on the track at The Jungle on Friday, May 2nd. Each participant will pay a $2 donation to receive a Brag Tag, and all proceeds will go towards funding campaigns and activities of the Sources of Strength clubs. Showing the Brag Tag will release students from class to walk around the track twice and be able to visit booths and activities together to learn more about mental health awareness. All students are required to have a signed permission form (linked here) from parents/guardians in order to participate. Brag Tags will be sold during lunches April 28th - May 1st (cash only). Signed permission slips must be submitted when Brag Tags are purchased or be turned into the main office by the end of the school day on May 1st. Student Course Requests
School counselors recently visited classes to discuss student schedules for the 2025-2026 academic year. LCMS uses an online process for student course requests for the upcoming year. Students can see their course recommendations available for next year in all subject areas in PowerSchool. We encourage you to reach out to your child’s current teachers if you have any questions about the course selections for next year. In the event you or your child disagree with the current recommendations, you may fill out a course override request form, which is available to submit on our website, or you may request a paper copy from the main office. Schedule changes and override requests MUST be submitted by May 9th. Any requests made after May 9th may not be considered.
Additionally, you will see the elective selections your child has indicated as their top choices. (You will see more courses listed than your child will actually take.) Your child will receive their 2025-2026 class schedule in late July with their actual course enrollments. Parents and guardians are able to view their student’s course requests for next year through the Parent Portal in PowerSchool. If you cannot access the Parent Portal, please call the LCMS main office for assistance.
Library Books
At this time, all library books should have been returned. If your child still has a library book checked out, please make sure it is returned right away in order to avoid fines for the replacement cost. If your child has lost a book, please contact the LCMS library to submit payment for the replacement book.
Yearbook Delivery
Students who pre-ordered a yearbook will receive their copy during 4th block on Wednesday, May 14th. Yearbooks are still available to purchase for $42!. Students can take cash or a check payable to Louisa County Middle School to Ms. Ventre in room 901. Bobcats can celebrate their journey, friends, and achievements in this incredible year, forever captured in our LCMS yearbook!
Free Physicals for Children Without Insurance and
Free Vaccines for Children Without Insurance OR Medicaid-Covered Children
Kids ages 4 and older who do NOT have insurance are invited to walk-in for FREE school/sports physicals on Tuesday, May 6 from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m.
Free Vaccines are by appointment only for uninsured OR Medicaid-covered children on Friday, May 9 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.

Reminder of the School Dress Code
With the weather getting warmer, it is important to ensure we are dressed for success!
The administration and faculty believe that young adults should take pride in their appearance and dress. Dress, hair, and appearance that are of such a nature as to disrupt normal learning will not be allowed. If there are doubts about what should be worn or what is not appropriate, check with the administration. Dress with self-respect and decency in mind.
-Shorts, skirts, and dresses shall be of modest length. A guideline: when standing, clothing must cover skin and undergarments from the top of the armpits to below the buttocks with no undergarments showing.
-Shirts shall cover the abdomen at all times. Revealing or plunging necklines are unacceptable.
-Tank-style sundresses, tank-style shirts, and muscle shirts shall be worn if the garment has a shoulder strap that is at least two (2) inches wide and covers undergarments.
-Obscenities and undesirable slogans on T-shirts or other clothing, including those relating to alcohol, drugs, sex, gangs, tobacco, or that could reasonably cause a substantial disruption to the learning environment, shall not be worn.
-Hats, bandanas, or any other type of complete head covering, or gloves shall not be worn in the building, except for face coverings for health reasons. Bandanas and any bandana pattern material on clothing shall not be present in the school at any time.
-Sunglasses shall be removed when entering the building.
-Chains, spiked collars, and wristbands are not permitted on school property.
-Slippers or other footwear that may endanger the wearer or other students shall not be worn. Shoes must be worn at all times.
Attendance Matters Through the Last Day of School!
Every instructional day counts for students to review what they have learned this year and show what they know! This is also the time of year that we enjoy engaging and collaborative projects, fun activities, and end of year festivities! Remember that school attendance matters through the last day of school! As always, students should stay home when they are sick but should attend school when possible. Students who have 17 or more absences in a given year, whether they are excused or unexcused absences, are considered chronically absent and are subject to being retained. I hope to see all of our Bobcats at school each day between now and the last day of school, which will be Thursday, May 22nd. As a reminder, students will be dismissed at 11 a.m.
