World Kindness Day and Bobcat Pride Time on Thursday, November 13th
Thursday, November 13th is recognized as World Kindness Day, which is a global observance dedicated to promoting and celebrating acts of kindness. This day serves as a reminder of the positive impact that kindness can have on individuals, communities, and the world at large. It highlights the importance of empathy, understanding, and cooperation to create a more harmonious and caring world.

At LCMS, we will wear our Kindness shirts on Thursday, November 13th, and we will have Bobcat Pride time with an Olweus lesson during WIN Block!

The Bobcats Spreading Kindness Club will be selling kindness bracelets for $1 and $2 each in the forum during morning arrival! Kindness Cart prizes will be given out to random winners who are wearing their Kindness shirts on Thursday. The Bobcat Pride Spirit Banners will be up for grabs based on which grade level hallways (even vs. odd) have the most students wearing their Kindness shirts!

TeamLCPS Green and Gold Day: Friday, November 14th
Our LCHS Varsity Lions will host the first playoff game in The Jungle this Friday night as they take on Caroline. As we prepare for Friday’s big game and rally behind our Lions, Friday, November 14th will be a division-wide Green and Gold Spirit Day at LCPS! Let’s show that there is no school division out there with more enthusiasm or pride than LCPS! Be sure to cheer on our Lions on Friday night as they kick off the playoffs in the Jungle!

Bonus After School Dance: Friday, November 14th
We are excited to announce a bonus after school dance on Friday, November 14th! Our dances have been such positive experiences for our Bobcats so far this year, and it is wonderful to have the opportunity to have another great social experience this semester.

Permission forms must be turned in by Thursday, November 13th at 1:20. Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the dance. The $10 fee will include admission to the dance and one student admission to the LCHS Varsity playoff football game in the Jungle!

Pizza, soda, water, chips, and candy will be available for purchase during the dance!

Parents/guardians will pick up students from the dance *beginning* at 5:30. (Early pickups are difficult because students are still dancing!)

Enter the campus using the main middle school entrance if you are staying for the football game. Enter the campus using the Bus Garage Road entrance if you plan to leave campus after picking up your child.

Proceed to door #2 (the 7th grade entrance) to pick up your child.

This is a wonderful opportunity for our students to make #MiddleSchoolMemories—dances are always a highlight, and we are happy to give them a bonus experience!

Interim Reports on Friday, November 14th
Interim Reports will come home with students on Friday, November 14th. As we progress through the school year, I encourage you to reach out to your child’s teachers with any questions or concerns, or just to connect with them to hear about your child’s continued growth. You can monitor your child’s academic progress by using the online PowerSchool Parent Portal where you are able to see the detailed grade book for each class, as well as attendance and tardy information. Please call our office if you need assistance with logging into the PowerSchool Parent Portal.

Attendance Matters!
School attendance continues to be important as we progress throughout the school year! Attending school consistently is not just a matter of fulfilling a requirement; it is a key factor in your child's educational journey.

Here are some reasons why consistent school attendance is so important:

Academic Success: Regular attendance ensures that your child receives essential instruction and fully participates in the learning process. Consistency in attendance leads to better academic performance and a deeper understanding of the curriculum.

Building a Strong Foundation: Middle school lays the foundation for higher education and future success. Each day of school contributes to your child's academic and personal growth, helping them develop the skills and knowledge needed for future challenges.

Social and Emotional Development: School is not just about academics; it is also a place for social interaction and emotional growth. Consistent attendance allows your child to form meaningful connections with peers and teachers, fostering a positive and supportive learning environment.

Preparation for High School: Middle school serves as a critical transition period before entering high school. Regular attendance helps your child develop the discipline and habits necessary for success in more advanced academic settings.

Life Skills: In addition to academic knowledge, school attendance teaches important life skills such as responsibility, time management, and accountability. These skills are invaluable for future success in both education and the workforce.

It is understandable that unforeseen circumstances may arise, and absences due to illness or family emergencies can be inevitable. However, we encourage you to prioritize attendance whenever possible and to communicate with the school when your child cannot attend. When students are absent, parents should submit a note explaining the reason for the absence. Notes can be dropped off in the main office or emailed to [email protected].

To celebrate great attendance, we are now recognizing the homerooms in each grade with the highest weekly attendance with Excellence in Attendance classroom door banners and “Presence Presents” (prizes for students)!

We appreciate your commitment to your child's education and well-being. By working together to prioritize regular school attendance, we can ensure that each student has the best opportunity for success.
