School-Wide Costume Theme on October 31st
Get ready to go bananas, because this year's school-wide costume theme is Minions! On Friday, October 31st, we're inviting all students and staff to join in the fun by dressing up as their favorite Minion. Whether Bobcats would like to be a classic Kevin, Stuart, or Bob, or simply wear a yellow shirt with denim, we can't wait to see our school transformed into a Minion army!
*If they choose, students may each receive a free Minion Beanie, which they will receive in homeroom class on Thursday, October 30th.
(Students may dress up on Friday, October 31st, as long as dress code guidelines are followed and there are no Halloween masks.)
Kindness Month Continues
Kindness Month continues with our “Kindness: A Decade of Difference!” initiative here at LCPS! Throughout this week, we will be writing thank you letters to first responders (Fire/EMS/Local/State Law Enforcement), and we will present the letters at the football game on Friday evening! Let’s join together to show our gratitude for those who make a lasting difference in our community!
Socktober
Socktober will wrap up this week; LCMS is collecting socks, hats, gloves, scarves, and other winter clothing items to give to those in need in our community. All donated items MUST be new and can be placed in grade level hallway bins in the cafeteria. Socktober will run through this Friday, October 31st.
Patriot’s Pen Writing Contest
We encourage our Bobcats to enter the Patriot’s Pen Writing Contest. The essay contest encourages young minds to examine America’s history, along with their own experiences in modern American society, by drafting a 300- to 400-word essay, expressing their views based on a patriotic theme chosen by the VFW Commander-in-Chief. Students interested in participating must submit their essay prepared on this year's theme, with a completed 2025-2026 entry form, to their local participating VFW Post. Applications must be turned in by midnight on October 31st. Students may give their submission to their social studies teacher and we will turn them in to the local VFW Post. We hope that many of our Bobcats will participate! Please encourage your child to consider entering the contest!

- Fillings
These services are offered to Medicaid-eligible students. Those interested in participating may contact our school nurse at 540-894-5457. Click here to access consent forms that are required to participate. You can also email [email protected] for more details.
Looking Ahead:
Daylight Saving Time ends on Sunday, November 2nd, and we will turn our clocks back one hour. Monday, November 3rd is a Staff Development Day and Tuesday, November 4th is Election Day; there will be no school for students on these days.
Clubs on Wednesday, November 5th
We will have our first day of clubs for the school year at the end of the day on Wednesday, November 5th! This is such an exciting time for our Bobcats where each student is involved in their unique activity, so we ask that parents and families avoid picking up students for an early dismissal after 2:15 if possible, since students will be in clubs.
Veterans Day Chorus Performance on Thursday, November 6th
We are excited to invite you to a special Veterans Day chorus performance featuring our talented middle school students on Thursday, November 6th, at 6:30 p.m. in the LCMS Forum. Our chorus has been working hard to prepare a memorable evening of patriotic songs honoring those who have served our country. We encourage you to bring a veteran to share in this heartfelt tribute. Your presence and support mean the world to our students and will make the event even more special.
New Exploratory Wheel Begins for Sixth Grade Bobcats on Friday, November 7th
The third exploratory rotation (E3) begins for sixth grade students on Friday, November 7th. The exploratory wheel is a rotation of six classes that meet for six weeks each. Students can check out their PowerSchool Student Portal to see which class they have next!
