LCPS Principal Weekly Update LogoLCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, February 6th will be an A day.

We will have a Valentine’s Dance on Friday, February 10th after school until 5:30. Permission forms must be turned in by Thursday, February 9th by 1:20 (end of lunch shifts). Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the dance. Parents/guardians will pick up students from the dance beginning at 5:30 at the cafeteria entrance of LCMS, which is accessed in the side parking lot. Parking is limited in the side lot. It is recommended that you park in the front lot and walk around to the side entrance. Pizza, soda, water, popcorn, and candy will be available for purchase. All school rules apply at the dance. Students are expected to dance appropriately and dress according to the dress code. Cell phones must remain in backpacks and not be used during the dance. Our Bobcats had an outstanding time at our fall dances, so we are looking forward to Friday!

Leading up to the dance, we will have an SCA spirit week this week, Monday, February 6 through Friday, February 10:

Monday, February 6th: Sport/Band Monday
As the Super Bowl is nearing, wear your favorite sports team jersey or favorite band tee to prepare for this year's big game

Tuesday, February 7th: Tourist Tuesday
Wear an outfit or souvenir shirt from a favorite place

Wednesday, February 8th: Pajama Day Wednesday
Wear your comfy pajamas

Thursday, February 9th: Country/Country Club Thursday
Choose between dressing in camouflage, flannels, and boots, or wearing a bow tie, collared shirt, or preppy wear

Friday, February 10th: Pink out to Kindness Day
Wear pink or red in preparation for the Valentine's Dance
Friday is also LCPS Kindness Day, so wear an LCPS kindness shirt!

The Student Council Association is excited to make Candy Grams available for purchase! Students may stop at their grade level table to pick up cards and make purchases during morning arrival. The candy grams will include a strawberry cream heart-shaped lollipop and a message card for $1. Candy grams will be delivered on Valentine's Day!

Wednesday, February 15th will be an Asynchronous Learning Day, and Bobcat students and staff will again be participating in community service activities. Space is still available for students to sign up to volunteer at Louisa County Parks, Recreation & Tourism to clean up the playground and organize storage rooms and with an initiative with the Meals of Hope program (located in the Louisa County High School gym) to help measure, pour, weigh, and pack meals and/or create a Kind Card to accompany each meal. Please complete the permission form for your child to participate, and return the form to the LCMS Main Office on Monday if you have not already. This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community, and I hope that you will consider having your child participate!

Baseball tryouts will take place on Monday, February 13th for 7th grade, Tuesday, February 14th for 8th grade, and Thursday, February 16th will be a tryout day for 7th & 8th grade.

Outdoor track tryouts will take place on Tuesday and Wednesday, February 21st and 22nd.

A current VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2022, is required for all conditioning and tryout events. Please see our LCMS athletics website for more information.

Family Life letters were given to students in Health/PE classes this past week and should be returned by Friday, February 24th. If you have any questions, please contact your child's Health/PE teacher.

The Mobile Dental Clinic will be coming to LCMS on Tuesday, February 28th. Forms went home with students last week. The dental program is for all students with or without insurance. Please review the information and call the school nurse if you have any questions. This is a great opportunity for our students to see the dentist at school, so get the forms filled out and returned as soon as possible, or sign up at www.MySchoolDentist.com.

At LCMS, we are a proud Heart-Partner school with the American Heart Association! Every year, we focus on the importance of being KIND to our HEARTS, and others.
Please help your student join our school team by downloading the American Heart Challenge app, or go to www.heart.org/AHC. When signing up, please use a parent or guardian’s email (not your student’s school-provided email address). Students who complete all of the 8 steps on their Finn’s Mission HEART gamecard, will be recognized at school as one of our Heart Heroes & will receive a special limited edition BEANIE cap! Students who raise at least $50 in life-saving donations for the mission of American Heart Association, will receive a special t-shirt, celebrating the organization helping hearts, since 1924! If you have any questions, please contact your child's Health/PE teacher.

This is going to be a great week! If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
