LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, December 12th will be an A day.

We will have an LCPS Holiday Spirit Week this week! On Monday, wear your favorite holiday shirt or dress like a holiday character. On Tuesday, wear your favorite holiday accessories. On Wednesday, wear your favorite holiday sweater. On Thursday, wear flannel or pajamas. On Friday, wear fun and festive holiday wear. Email your name, school, and festive photo to [email protected] each day for the chance to win a secret prize!

We are excitedly cheering on our winter sports season, including wrestling and boys basketball. Both teams are off to a great start to the season! Be reminded that on days when we have home athletics events, students need to leave school as usual and return to school with an adult to attend the event. Students are not able to stay on the school campus or go to the Louisa County library and then return for an athletics event; the library does not have structures in place to supervise our young Bobcat spectators. We look forward to cheering on our athletes for the rest of the season!

Looking ahead, outdoor track conditioning will begin on January 10th and continue every Tuesday and Thursday. Tryouts for outdoor track will take place February 20th-22nd. Letters will go home on February 24th. A current VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2022, is required for all conditioning and tryout events. Please see our LCMS athletics website for more information.

Did you know that LCMS has a Little Library in front of the school? The Little Library is a free book exchange. If you see something you would like to read, take it! When you’re finished, share it with a friend, bring it back here, or leave it in another Little Library. You may also donate books to our Little Library! Happy reading, Bobcat community!

Our school, in cooperation with the Virginia Department of Criminal Justice Services and the Virginia Department of Education, is conducting the Virginia School Survey of Climate and Working Conditions. We will survey students in grades 6, 7, and 8, as well as classroom instructors and staff, the week of January 30th through February 3rd. The purpose of this survey is to measure student support, student engagement, school discipline, and safety conditions in each school. This information will be used to guide educational practices that produce a safe and supportive school environment. Please view the informational letter to read more about the survey, and please notify the school office by telephone or letter by January 27, 2023 if you do not wish for your child to participate.

This is our final Bobcat Weekly update of 2022! Winter break will begin next week, and classes will resume for students on Wednesday, January 4th. I hope everyone has a safe and enjoyable break with family and friends! Happy Holidays, Bobcats!

If you have any questions or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
