Scholastic Book Fair This Week
The LCMS Library will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair this week, Monday through Friday, March 4th - 8th. Students will be able to visit the fair with their classes on their scheduled day. The fair will also be open in the morning at 7:45 and during lunch for students who have money to make a purchase but not simply browse. The fair will be open to students and their families during the Asynchronous Learning Day on Tuesday, March 5th from 11 am to 3 p.m. Please feel free to stop in and pick up some amazing new books to read!
Picture Day on Thursday
LCMS Spring Picture Day will be on Thursday, March 7th. All orders for spring pictures will be done online. Look for your student's personal ID information which came home this week on a flyer. This spring, each student's flyer will be personalized with their name and personal code.
The LCMS American Heart Association Challenge Was a Success!
The LCMS Health/PE Department would like to update the final total for the American Heart Association Challenge. Beginning February 1st, our school goal was to raise $1,000. Remember, we raised $780.00 last school year. Well, thanks to our LCMS Bobcat students, teachers, and staff,
we raised a total of $1,910.19 this year!! Also,
we had 526 people join our LCMS AHA Team! Due to the help of our school community, our Health/PE Department will receive a voucher for free equipment for our students! Many thanks for everyone's support, donations, and time towards completing Finn's Mission and encouragement towards making this world a better place!
LCMS Talent Show
We are excited to announce the LCMS Talent Show to be held on Friday, April 26th at 6:00 p.m. This program will not be a competition but rather a sharing of our middle school students’ talents! Tryouts will take place on Tuesday, March 26th from 3:15-5:45 p.m. in the middle school forum. Please sign and return the
permission form by Friday, March 22nd for your child to participate in tryouts. Practices will take place after school on Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, April 24th, 25th, and 26th. All participants must be able to attend practices leading up to the show. We are excited to see a showcase of our Bocbats’ talents!
Volunteers Needed for Reality Store
On March 29, 2024, Louisa County 8th graders will have the opportunity to experience a taste of reality through the Virginia Cooperative Extension program “Reality Store.” Reality Store is a simulation activity designed to help teens become more aware of the financial demands they will encounter in the “real world.” On the day of the simulation, students are assigned a random occupation, family situation, and account register. Their task is to visit stations representing typical spending categories in a household budget such as housing, transportation, food, etc., and decide how to spend their income. Some students quickly spend their income on “wants,” only to realize there is not enough left for food or housing. Sometimes students need to revisit some stations to negotiate resale of their purchases for a reduced rate or visit the employment booth and take on a second job. This program is highly dependent upon community volunteers who are interested in helping youth gain a greater understanding of the world of personal finance and decision-making. Please consider volunteering for this valuable interactive educational event. A school volunteer application is required.
