Good evening Bobcat Nation.  This is your principal, Shaun Woody.  I am calling tonight with a preview for the week of October 26th.

This past Thursday, LCMS students, faculty, and staff celebrated law enforcement week as our #Louisa Leads: Our Community Comes First initiative continued.  Our very own School Resource Officer Corporal Harris was recognized by students and staff and presented with numerous thank you cards and a gift basket for keeping all of LCMS safe. In addition, a group of students and staff members had the honor of meeting with members of the Virginia State Police and the Louisa County Sheriff’s Department outside of LCMS to share student-created thank you cards and postcards.  A basket containing a “We Will” shirt and food treats was given as a token of appreciation for all that they do to keep our community safe.  This upcoming week, we honor all educators and thank our very own Bobcat Nation educators for always displaying a 212 mentality.  We ask all students to wear their “We Will” t-shirts on Monday and Tuesday to celebrate the week.

As we begin the 2nd nine weeks marking period, I encourage parents to remain in communication with teachers regarding your child’s academic progress.  On October 28th, from 1:00pm - 7:00pm, Louisa County Middle School will be holding virtual parent-teacher conferences.  If you are interested in having a conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule a time slot.  Conferences will be held through Zoom, Google Meet, by telephone, or another convenient option.  Parents of students who received a D or F on their report card for the first nine weeks will be contacted by the teacher to set up a conference.

From October 19th to November 20th, LCMS will be holding a “Stuff the Turkey Food Drive”.  We are asking that students and staff bring in canned foods and other non-perishable items to support the Louisa County Resource Council.  Donations should be given to your child’s first-period teacher.  LCPS Virtual Academy students may drop off canned goods and non-perishable items at the main entrance of the middle school.  A bin has been placed outside of the main entrance for drop-off.  We ask that you bag the items and place your child’s name on the bag, as 1st-period classes are having a friendly competition to see who can donate the most items.

The Positive Home, School, and Community Correlate reminds all families about Bobcat Bingo coming November 11th at 7:00pm. If you have any questions, please contact us at [email protected]

With Halloween just around the corner, we want to alert parents that students are allowed to wear costumes to school on Thursday and Friday.  All costumes must meet LCMS dress code expectations with masks, face coverings, hats, etc. not being permitted (masks and face coverings relating to COVID-19 mitigation strategies are required).

Finally tonight, our community meals program continues.  At LCMS every Wednesday from 9:00am - 11:00am, meals may be picked up free of charge for anyone ages 2-18.  Also, for all of first semester, breakfast, lunch, and take-home meals are free of charge for all students at LCMS.  Please encourage your child to take advantage of these options.

As always, I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457.  Have a great night!
