Good Monday evening Bobcat Nation.  This is your principal, Shaun Woody.  I hope everyone had a great weekend and you all are enjoying a safe and relaxing summer.  I would like to welcome all of our newest members to Bobcat Nation and TeamLCPS.  I am calling tonight with important information as we near the new academic year.

First tonight, I would like to talk with you about our alternative approach to Open House this year.  On July 27th, we will be offering our rising sixth-grade students orientation opportunities.  Also, on July 29th, we will be offering our rising seventh and eighth-grade students orientation opportunities.  As safety will always be our number one priority, all attendees must wear a mask and maintain physical distancing while inside the building.  Also, please note that orientations are geared towards students that have not visited LCMS.

For orientations, four sessions will be offered each day, beginning at 1:00pm.  The focus of the sessions will provide an opportunity to meet the administration, be informed about current safety mitigation strategies, discuss academic opportunities at LCMS, and share overall expectations as we enter the new academic year. Upon the conclusion of our informational sessions, students will be taken on a tour of the building.

To attend, please use the “Bobcat Nation Orientation 2021-2022” Google Form, to sign up for a corresponding date and time slot.  You may also call the LCMS main office to register.  We ask that you RSVP by July 19th and we look forward to seeing you there!  You can find this link in your email and we have also posted this form on our LCMS website.

On July 21st, student class schedules and important information to begin the new academic year will be mailed home.  Please note that class assignments are based on teacher recommendations, student grades, and SOL scores.  Elective classes are based upon your child’s requests and overall availability.  If you have questions regarding your child’s schedule, please contact the grade level school counselor beginning August 2nd.

Grade Level Counselors:

8th Grade - Mrs. Floyd - [email protected]

7th Grade - Mrs. Falin - [email protected]

6th Grade - Mrs. Purcell - [email protected]

Virtual Students - Mrs. Terri Young - [email protected]

For our LCMS Virtual Academy students, there have been some changes to the program that we would like to review.  To go over these expectations, we invite students, and parents or guardians, to the LCPS Virtual Academy orientation.

Orientation will be on Monday, August 9th at 2:30pm at Louisa County High School.  If you have any questions, please read THIS LETTER or feel free to contact Dr. Chen (Director of Virtual Learning, [email protected]) at (540) 894-5115 ext. 7718.  Also, if you are unable to attend this orientation, there is another time frame of Monday, August 9th at 4:30pm.

Students who will be attending the face-to-face model for this upcoming academic year will receive their Chromebooks once school starts.

Finally tonight, on August 6th, be on the lookout for a welcome letter and video emailed from your child’s teachers.  In this video, teachers will give a tour of their classroom, review supply lists, and discuss other important items for the given classroom.

Excelling together, we are Bobcat Nation!.  I thank you for your support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457.  Have a great night!
