Principal Weekly Update graphicGood evening, LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, September 11th will be an A Day. We will have an Asynchronous Learning Day on Wednesday, September 13th. Thursday, September 14th will be an A Day.

September 11th is recognized each year as Patriot Day. On Monday, Bobcat students and staff will wear red, white, and blue on this designated day for reflection and commemoration.

Interim reports were sent home with students on Friday, September 8th. Please review the report with your child and contact teachers with any questions or concerns. I also encourage you to frequently monitor your child’s academic progress by using the online PowerSchool Parent Portal where you are able to see the detailed grade book for each class, as well as attendance and tardy information. Working together, we can ensure your child’s growth and success!

Tuesday, September 12th will be Picture Day! Pictures can be ordered at lifetouch.com with the Picture Day ID: EVTT9Q28C

Constitution Day is Sunday, September 17th! Bobcat students and staff will wear red, white, and blue on Monday, September 18th. Constitution Day became a national observance in 2004 when Senator Robert Byrd passed a bill designating September 17th as the day for citizens to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution and learn more about our founding document. To celebrate Constitution Day, Bobcats can design and decorate a patriotic star! Entries are due by Friday, September 15th. Students should use lots of RED, WHITE, and BLUE in their design, cut the star out, and place their name on the back, then turn the star into their grade level basket in the cafeteria. Winners will be announced next Monday, and many entries will be displayed on the bulletin board in the cafeteria! Click here for the entry form. We are excited to see our Bobcats’ creativity!

Bobcats will join their grade-level Google Classroom for the United States Constitution Video Competition by clicking the links on the LCMS Student Start Page! Activities will be posted starting Monday, September 11th.
Several videos will be posted during the week highlighting the United States Constitution. Students will carefully watch the Edpuzzle videos and answer the questions by Tuesday, September 19th at 3:09. WINNERS will be selected based on how well students score and how many videos they complete.

Looking ahead, an informational night will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the LCMS Forum for 8th graders and parents interested in learning more about the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School. Seventh grade families are welcome to attend to get a jump start for their 8th grade year.

The Blue Ridge Virtual Governor’s School (BRVGS) is an academic year governor’s school that provides a challenging and differentiated program of studies in core academic subjects, emphasizing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program utilizes interactive video technology, field trips, and team coaching to create a regional community of learners from the counties of Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, Madison, and Orange. Methods of instruction and learning aided by technology will aim to put the student in control of his or her learning and education. Please contact Mrs. Floyd, Special Services School Counselor, with any questions: [email protected], 540-894-5457 ext 2061.
