Good Sunday evening Bobcat Nation. This is your principal, Shaun Woody. I hope everyone has enjoyed a relaxing weekend with family. I am calling tonight with a preview for the week of April 19th.
As we are about halfway through the 4th nine weeks grading period, I continue to encourage all students (Virtual Academy/Blended) and parents to be in contact with teachers concerning academic progress.
On Thursday and Friday of this week, blended students will be receiving their 4th nine weeks interim in fourth-period classrooms. In addition, our Virtual Academy students will have their interims mailed home on Thursday.
On Tuesday, students will begin end-of-year assessments (SOL testing). This week, students will be assessed in reading for all grade levels. For end-of-year assessments, blended students will test on Tuesdays and Thursdays for (3) consecutive weeks and Virtual Academy students will test on Wednesdays for (3) consecutive weeks. We wish all students the best of luck and we know you will do great!
We started the scheduling process with 6th and 7th-grade students earlier this week where we looked at different class opportunities for the next school year. Please ensure that your student has submitted their class choices through Student Portal by Wednesday, April 21st. This week we will be working with 8th-grade students on scheduling for next year through Civics classrooms. Virtual Academy students have been given guidance on how to input their course requests through Student Portal, with the assistance of a video that is posted within their Social Studies/Civics Google Classroom. To view course guides for each grade level, please view the LCMS homepage (Parents tab - Documents for Parents). Also, if you have any questions, please feel free to call the main office to be directed to a school counselor.
The spring sports of baseball, softball, and track begin this week for 7th and 8th-grade students. Please reference your email, or visit the LCMS webpage for details. Aso, you may email Mrs. Janelle Erickson ([email protected]), or call (540)894-5457, Ext. 2121 with questions.
Excelling together, we will. Let’s continue to make safe and healthy choices. I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457. Have a great night!
Tryouts are as follows:
There will be NO activity buses. Athletes need to have a ride available to pick them up from LCMS by 5:45pm.
