LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

We have an exciting week ahead, especially with our LCMS Kindness Kickoff during the school day on Friday! We will enjoy hearing from a guest speaker, Doug Reavis of the Silent Strength Program and founder of the YouUplift platform. We will also have our first Olweus lesson of the year and we will have Team Time with our grade levels! This is an inspiring event for students to look forward to! We will also have a GREEN and GOLD day on Friday for the occasion, so students should wear green and gold to show their school spirit!

Mr. Reavis will be filming his presentation to create a video for other schools to use. Parents, please let us know if you would not like for your child to be present for the filming by calling our office at 540-894-5457.

Visit our LCMS website to submit anonymous positive and encouraging messages to our Bobcats on our YouUplift Kindness eWall! We have continuously remained #1 in the Nation on the YouUplift Leaderboard for the most messages submitted. Let’s keep it up!

Monday, August 29 is an A Day.

As we continue to practice our emergency procedures in the first weeks of school and throughout the school year, we will have a Lockdown Drill this week.

The LCMS Parent Advisory Council is an important component of our success, where school-related concerns are communicated to the principal. Meetings usually consist of 7 commitments a year, as we work together to define and examine relevant issues within the school environment. The first meeting will occur on September 14th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the LCMS Forum. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for October 12th, November 9th, December 7th, January 11th, February 8th, and March 8th. Please contact me if you are interested in serving on the LCMS Parent Advisory Council.

LCMS Bobcats in grades 6, 7, and 8 will be participating with staff in a community service activity on the first asynchronous learning day, Wednesday, September 14, as a way to give back to our amazing and supportive community. We will be working together to clean up the campus around the middle school, the LCHS stadium, and the areas around the Louisa County library and Central Office. This is an excellent opportunity for our students to be involved in a community service project. Please review and submit the permission form for your child to participate.

Parents/Guardians, did you know that over eight million students in the United States miss nearly a month of school each year? At TeamLCPS, September is Attendance Awareness Month! TeamLCPS believes that student attendance is a significant predictor of a student's academic, social, and emotional growth, as well as overall success. We encourage your child to strive for regular attendance to school this academic year and to arrive on time at school every day. Please reference the "September is Attendance Awareness Month" newsletter for more information.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
