Principal Weekly Update LogoLCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Students will not have school on Monday and Tuesday, November 7th and 8th. I hope our Bobcats enjoy the long weekend! Wednesday, November 9th will be an A day.

There will be an LCMS Parent Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, November 9th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the LCMS Forum. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for December 7th, January 11th, February 8th, and March 8th. Please contact me if you are interested in serving on the LCMS Parent Advisory Council.

The annual LCMS Stuff the Turkey Drive has begun! Help support the Louisa Resource Council by bringing in non-perishable food items to Stuff the Turkey. Students can donate items in the grade level hallway bins in either the 6th grade wing or in the cafeteria. The Stuff the Turkey Drive will take place through November 18th. Accepted items include canned vegetables, pasta, peanut butter, applesauce, fruit cups, beans, canned soup, rice, granola bars, Pop-Tarts, and fruit snacks.

Tryouts for wrestling and boys basketball will take place soon. Tryouts for wrestling will be after school on November 9th and 10th. Tryouts for boys basketball will be after school on November 9th for 6th grade, November 10th for 7th grade, and November 14th for 8th grade. Callbacks will be on November 15th. A current VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2022, is required for all tryout events. Please see our LCMS athletics website for more information.

Applications for Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School are now available for 8th grade students. Applications can be completed online or on paper. Please reach out to Mrs. Floyd at LCMS or Mr. Ryan at LCHS for more information.

We remind our Bobcats that absences add up! Missing just two days each month means a child misses 10% of the school year. When absences add up, students may need to say after school for Study Hall to make up the time missed. We hope to see all of our Bobcats at school on time every day!

The Virginia Department of Education has asked all school divisions to share information concerning the Child Tax Credit for low-income families. The deadline to apply for this credit is coming up on November 15th, so be sure to visit our school website, where we have posted a link with more information.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
