Good evening, LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, January 9th will be an A day.

On Friday, January 13th, we will have an Olweus lesson and we will wear our LCPS kindness shirts!

Report cards were sent home with students on Friday, January 6th. Remember that you can view your child’s grades, attendance, and tardies live in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please call the school if you need assistance logging in.

Outdoor track conditioning will begin on Tuesday, January 10th and will continue every Tuesday and Thursday until tryouts begin, which will be on February 21st and 22nd. Letters will go home on February 24th. Baseball and softball tryouts will take place during the week of February 13th. A current VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2022, is required for all conditioning and tryout events. Please see our LCMS athletics website for more information.

There will be an LCMS Parent Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, January 11th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the LCMS Forum. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for February 8th and March 8th. I will add that “Parent Advisory Council” sounds like a fancy term that means a big commitment, but it really just means an opportunity to meet with me along with other parents to hear about what is going on at LCMS, as well as brainstorm and discuss future opportunities. This month, Louisa County Parks and Recreation and Tourism representatives will join us to share about programs available for middle schoolers and hear parents' feedback. Snacks and drinks will be provided! Please let me know if you would like to join us!

Wednesday, January 25th will be an Asynchronous Learning Day, and Bobcat students and staff will be participating in community service activities as a way to give back to our supportive community. We will be volunteering at the Louisa County Animal Shelter to walk and pet dogs and fill up food and water dishes, at the Louisa Arts Center to go through art supplies and organize materials, Noble Senior Living at Louisa to paint inside and play games with the elderly, and an initiative with the Meals of Hope program (located at the metal gym behind LCMS) to help measure, pour, weigh, pack meals and/or create a Kind Card to accompany each meal. Please complete the permission form for your child to participate, and return the form to the LCMS Main Office no later than Friday, January 13th. This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community, and I hope that you will consider having your child participate!

We are excitedly cheering on our winter sports season, including wrestling and boys basketball. Both teams are having a great season! Be reminded that on days when we have home athletics events, students need to leave school as usual and return to school with an adult to attend the event. Students are not able to stay on the school campus or go to the Louisa County library and then return for an athletics event; the library does not have structures in place to supervise our young Bobcat spectators. We look forward to cheering on our athletes for the rest of the season!

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
