Good evening, LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, September 18th will be an A Day.

Today is Constitution Day! Bobcat students and staff will wear red, white, and blue on Monday, September 18th. Constitution Day became a national observance in 2004 when Senator Robert Byrd passed a bill designating September 17th as the day for citizens to commemorate the signing of the U.S. Constitution and learn more about our founding document. It has been wonderful to see our Bobcats’ creativity shine in the Patriotic Star Decorating Contest! Winners will be announced on Monday in the cafeteria.

Winners will be chosen at the end of the day on Monday from the Bobcats with the highest scores on the Consitution Day Blooket games! Students should be sure to enter their first and last names so we will know who to give the prizes to!

This week is Start With Hello Week! Start with Hello Week focuses on activities to promote awareness of social isolation and encourage students to reach out to make connections with people they don’t know. Each of us has the incredible power to share kindness and create connectedness here at LCMS. Over the course of the week, we will learn how to create a closer, more inclusive, and connected classroom, school, and community.

To note for the week: On Wednesday, wear green. On Friday, wear our school colors or Bobcat gear to show we are all connected!

The second exploratory rotation (E2) begins for sixth grade students on Wednesday, September 20th. The exploratory wheel is a rotation of six classes that meet for six weeks each. Students can check out their PowerSchool Student Portal to see which class they have next!

Looking ahead, an informational night will be held on Wednesday, September 27th at 6:30 p.m. in the LCMS Forum for 8th graders and parents interested in learning more about the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School. Seventh grade families are welcome to attend to get a jump start for their 8th grade year.

The Blue Ridge Virtual Governor’s School (BRVGS) is an academic year governor’s school that provides a challenging and differentiated program of studies in core academic subjects, emphasizing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). The program utilizes interactive video technology, field trips, and team coaching to create a regional community of learners from the counties of Fluvanna, Goochland, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, Madison, and Orange. Methods of instruction and learning aided by technology will aim to put the student in control of his or her learning and education. Please contact Mrs. Floyd, Special Services School Counselor, with any questions: [email protected] , 540-894-5457 ext 2061.

The Lions Club will be coming to LCMS on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 26th and 27th for hearing and vision screening for 7th grade students.

Our next after school dance will be on Friday, October 6th. We look forward to another opportunity for social time with our Bobcats, followed by cheering on our Lions in the Jungle for the Homecoming game against Orange!

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
