LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

As a friendly reminder, Monday, February 19th is a holiday for LCPS as we celebrate Presidents' Day. Accordingly, there will be no school for students on Monday, and we look forward to welcoming our Bobcats back to school on Tuesday, February 20th, which will be an A Day.

Sixth Grade Bobcats to See Barter Theatre Performance on Friday
As you know, the Louisa Rotary Club is a tremendous supporter of TeamLCPS, and they have generously funded Barter Theatre performances over the years. This year, we are excited for sixth graders to have the opportunity to attend a Barter Theatre show, The Velveteen Rabbit, on Friday, February 23rd!

Roadside Cleanup Community Service Project on Tuesday, March 5th
We will have an Asynchronous Learning Day on Tuesday, March 5th. LCMS Bobcat students and staff will be working together to clean up roadsides near our school! This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community. Lunch will be provided in appreciation for students’ efforts! Please complete, sign, and return the permission form to the LCMS main office by Wednesday, February 28th to participate!

Return Family Life Letters by Friday, February 23rd
Family Life Education letters were given to students in Health/PE classes and should be returned by Friday, February 23rd. If you have any questions, please contact your child's Health/PE teacher.

Black History Month Video Contests Continue
It is not too late for Bobcats to join their grade-level Google Classroom for the Black History Month contests by clicking the links on the LCMS Student Start Page! Daily videos are being posted during February highlighting the achievements of African Americans. Students carefully watch Edpuzzle videos and answer the questions. Daily and weekly winners are selected based on how well students score and how many videos they complete!

American Heart Challenge
The LCMS Health/PE Department continues the American Heart Challenge! Students can join by going to their Health/PE Google Classroom. Please take a few minutes to register your student for our American Heart Challenge (AHC) under Louisa County Middle School and learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR as a family at www.heart.org/schools. You can also join on the free app called “AHA Schools.” Students who complete the steps to Finn’s Mission will earn an entry for a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl LIX in 2025 and our school will be eligible for a chance to win a $10,000 fitness equipment makeover for every 18 students who complete Finn’s Mission!

Future Dates
Parent-teacher conferences will take place on Wednesday, February 28th from 3:45 to 7:00 p.m. I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to stay connected with your child’s teachers about your child’s academic progress. Conferences play an important role in fostering collaboration, understanding, and support in your child's educational journey. We are eager to connect with you as we partner to provide the best possible middle school experience!

Also on Wednesday, February 28th, our LCPS Career & Technical Education program is hosting CTE Showcase Night at Louisa County High School! The event will begin at 4:00 p.m., and elementary students will be competing in the annual CTE STEAM Cup Challenge starting at 5! There will be student demonstrations and prize raffles, and for five dollars, you can schedule an oil change, haircut, or pick up a BBQ dinner!

The LCMS Library will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair Monday through Friday, March 4th - 8th. Students will be able to visit the fair with their classes on their scheduled day. The fair will also be open in the morning at 7:45 and during lunch for students who have money to make a purchase but not simply browse. The fair will be open to students and their families during the Asynchronous Learning Day on Tuesday, March 5th from 11 am to 3 pm. Please feel free to stop in and pick up some amazing new books to read!

LCMS Spring Picture Day will be on Thursday, March 7th.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
