LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, February 12th will be an A Day.

We had a remarkable week last week with a visit from an author, club meetings, our LCMS Spreading Kindness event, including a phenomenal guest speaker, Mr. Josh Epps, and a high-energy Team Time event for each grade level, Black History Month Spirit Week, Jersey Day AND Hat Day, and our Valentine’s Dance! It was a great week to be a Bobcat!

We have our fingers crossed that my Super Bowl picks in the #TeamLCPS Super Bowl Showdown will win ice cream for our whole school! The excitement is building for the big game! Regardless, our whole school will enjoy an ice cream treat tomorrow, February 12th, which is #TeamLCPS 212° Day! That one EXTRA DEGREE can make a world of difference in someone's life!

Wednesday, February 14th will be an Asynchronous Learning Day. Thursday, February 15th will be an A Day.

Wear LCPS Kindness Shirts on Friday, February 16th for Bobcat Pride Time
We will have Bobcat Pride Time with an Olweus lesson during WIN block on Friday, February 16th, and we will wear our LCPS Kindness shirts! The Virginia Department of Education’s Virginia Kindness Week is this week, and Saturday, February 17th is Random Acts of Kindness Day! Daily videos are being posted during February highlighting the achievements of African Americans. Students carefully watch Edpuzzle videos and answer the questions. Daily and weekly winners are selected based on how well students score and how many videos they complete!

American Heart Challenge
The LCMS Health/PE Department kicked off our American Heart Challenge on February 1st! Students can join by going to their Health/PE Google Classroom.
Please take a few minutes to register your student for our American Heart Challenge (AHC) under Louisa County Middle School and learn the lifesaving skill of Hands-Only CPR as a family at www.heart.org/schools. You can also join on the free app called “AHA Schools.”

Students who complete the steps to Finn’s Mission will earn an entry for a chance to win two tickets to Super Bowl LIX in 2025 and our school will be eligible for a chance to win a $10,000 fitness equipment makeover for every 18 students who complete Finn’s Mission!

Bobcat Kindness Closet
I would like to highlight that there is a link on the LCMS Student Start Page for the Bobcat Kindness Closet. The Kindness Closet was created to help provide our Bobcat families with items to meet their basic needs. If a student could benefit from some of the items listed, please fill out the form indicating the items needed. We are happy to announce that clothes, including coats, are available, along with toiletries. We will gather the requested items and deliver them to students in a discreet manner. Students can also share their needs with their grade level school counselor. If you would like to donate items for the Kindness Closet, please contact our office or a school counselor.

Parent-teacher conferences will take place on Wednesday, February 28th from 3:45 to 7:00 p.m. I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to stay connected with your child’s teachers about your child’s academic progress.
