Good evening Bobcat Nation!  This is your principal, Shaun Woody.  I am calling tonight with a reminder about the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor’s School meeting on Monday, November 2nd.

The application process for the 2021-2022 academic year is now open for the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School.  What is Governor's School you ask?  It is an Academic Year Governor’s School that provides a challenging and differentiated program of studies in core academic subjects, emphasizing mathematics, science, and technology. The program uses collaborative technology and an emphasis on 21st-century skills to create a regional community of learners from surrounding counties.  In order to apply students must be enrolled in a participating public school division.

Currently, BRVGS application policy requires that students entering the 9th grade must have taken and passed Algebra I prior to the start of their 9th-grade year. The BRVGS Board is considering a waiver of that requirement for students for next year’s BRVGS 9th grade, so all interested students in 8th grade are encouraged to apply, even if they will not have taken Algebra I prior to 9th grade.  This is an exciting opportunity for our 8th-grade students.  A virtual parent night has been scheduled for Monday, November 2nd at 6:30pm.

For more information, you can check out the link on our website to access the online application (  Paper copies of the applications are available in the main office.  Please reach out to Mrs. Floyd with questions or concerns.

As always, I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457.  Have a great night!
