Good evening, LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,
Monday, October 9th is a teacher workday and there will be no school for students. Tuesday, October 10th will be a B Day.

We have a very exciting announcement to share! The LCMS float received 1st Place in the Louisa Hometown Homecoming Parade! Thank you to all of our Bobcats who participated in creating the float and to everyone who attended the parade!

Last week was a great week to be a Bobcat! In addition to representing LCMS at the Louisa Hometown Homecoming Parade, we also enjoyed a spirit week, we celebrated our students who received perfect scores on SOL tests in the spring, we shopped at the Book Fair, we had our first club meetings, we wrote letters and postcards to veterans and members of the military, and we enjoyed our second after school dance of the school year! Our next after school dance will be on Friday, November 10th.

This week, for the second week of Kindness Month and our division-wide initiative, OPERATION KINDNESS, we will be collecting items to create care packages for the local VA Hospital. These items will help support veterans who have laid their lives on the line to keep our country safe. Here are a few items you can bring to donate: white T-shirts, socks, toothpaste, shampoo, word search books, and colored pencils. Check out this poster with a complete list of items that can be donated. Send donations in by Friday, October 13th! We will be competing with LCHS to see which school can donate the most items!

The Lions Club will be coming to LCMS on Tuesday and Wednesday, October 11th and 12th for hearing and vision screening for 7th grade students.

Thursday, October 12th is an LCPS #Kindness Day and we will wear our LCPS Kindness shirts! We will also have Bobcat PRIDE Time with an Olweus lesson during WIN Block on Thursday.

Report cards will go home with students on Friday, October 13th. Remember that you can view your child’s grades, attendance, and tardies live in the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Please call the school if you need assistance logging in.

We will have an Asynchronous Learning Day on Wednesday, October 18th. LCMS Bobcat students and staff will be working together to clean up roadsides near our school. This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community. Lunch will be provided in appreciation for students’ efforts! Please complete, sign, and return the permission form to the LCMS main office by Friday, October 13th to participate!

Socktober has arrived! Students can donate socks, winter hats, scarves, sweatshirts, jackets, and anything else to help stay warm this winter! Even a small act of love, such as donating a pair of socks, can make a big difference in the lives of our neighbors who are homeless. Grade level odd and even hallway bins are set up in the cafeteria for students to place their donations and participate in the grade level hallway competition!  Remember all items must be new. Donations will be accepted through Friday, October 20th.

Don't forget to order this year's school pictures! Enjoy 10% off your order with the code F202310OFF. Visit the Lifetouch website to redeem the coupon!
Fall pictures are included in our annual yearbook, so students who did not have their picture taken are encouraged to participate in the makeup picture day, which will be on Wednesday, October 25th. There will also be an opportunity for those who ordered pictures to have their picture retaken on that day. The picture order or proof must be brought back on retake day for a student to have a retake.

Would you like a glimpse into your child’s school day? Would you like to see firsthand what they have been working on so far this school year? Would you like to see their writings, creations, and evidence of their learning and progress?
Mark your calendar for Friday, October 27th for our LCMS Student Showcase! Families are invited to visit our school from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. prior to the LCHS Varsity football game against Albemarle in the Jungle, which kicks off at 7:30. Families can enjoy dinner at the tailgate in front of the middle school from 5:30 to 6:30. Students will be showcasing their learning, progress, creativity, and successes so far this school year. Families are invited to visit each of their child’s classrooms and teachers, as well as other areas in our school such as our library, and students who have their Showcase Card punched will receive a student ticket to the football game! More details will come in the next couple of weeks. For now, mark your calendar to visit LCMS on Friday, October 27th from 3:30 to 6:30 p.m. for the Student Showcase!

For Tuesday, October 31st, students and staff are invited to unite in a school-wide theme in the spirit of fun -- 1,001 Dalmatians: Spots Rule the School! Bobcats can wear white clothing adorned with black spots and let their creativity shine as they bring their favorite puppy characters to life! Each puppy can have its own unique personality, just like in the book and movie.
*If they choose, students may each receive a dalmatian headband! Students will request a headband from their homeroom teacher.

It is going to be another great week at LCMS. We will see students again on Tuesday. Meanwhile, if you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
