LCMS Principal Weekly Update for Feb. 6, 2022
Good Sunday evening Bobcat Nation. This is your proud principal, Shaun Woody. I hope that everyone has enjoyed a great weekend with family. I am calling tonight with a preview for the week of February 7th.
Parents/Guardians, I want to thank you for ensuring that your child continues to perform self-screenings each morning. If your child is experiencing COVID-like symptoms, please keep him or her at home and call the school to alert us.
As a reminder, this Wednesday (9th) is an Asynchronous Learning Day and students do not report to school. On our Asynchronous Learning Days, students are afforded the opportunity to work on any assignments that are in need of completion. In addition, we encourage our teachers to provide students with optional enrichment opportunities that place an emphasis on the 5C's (collaboration, critical thinking, citizenship, creativity, and communication). If your child is in need of additional support on this day, please communicate with our teachers.
We also have exciting news for February 9th! Bobcat Nation students and staff will be participating in a community service activity on Wednesday, February 9th as a way to give back to our amazing and supportive community. For this community service project, we will be volunteering at the Louisa County Animal Shelter, the Louisa Arts Center, and Louisa County Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community. For more information, please reference the emailed permission form.
Bobcat Nation, it is time to join our school’s American Heart Challenge Team and complete “Finn’s Mission”. This year we are going to “GLOW with HEART”! Sign up your child to join our school team, complete the steps to “Finn’s Mission”, and be a hero for kids like our friend, Finn! Click the emailed link to help your child join our team: http://www2.heart.org/goto/LouisaCountyMiddle.
As we continue to celebrate Black History Month, get ready for our Black History Month Spirit Week which will be held February 14th - 18th. Please see the emailed flyer for each day’s theme.
Tryouts for baseball/softball will take place February 15th - 17th. In addition, track tryouts will be held from February 21st - 24th. To take part in conditioning and tryouts, students must have a current Virginia High School League (VHSL) physical on file.
This Friday (11th), we celebrate another #Kindness Day. Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to wear their “Kind is Cool” t-shirts and continue to spread kindness throughout.
Finally tonight, we wish those members of Bobcat Nation taking part in the Spelling Bee on February 9th the best of luck. Also, congratulations to our boys basketball team for their championship win over Locust Grove on Friday. A thank you also goes out to our cheerleaders.
Excelling together, we are Bobcat Nation! I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457. Have a great night!
