Good Sunday evening Bobcat Nation. This is your principal, Shaun Woody. I hope everyone has enjoyed a relaxing weekend with family. I am calling tonight with a preview for the week of May 3rd.
On Tuesday, students will continue with end-of-year assessments (SOL testing). This week, students will be assessed in math for all grade levels. Blended students will test on Tuesday and Thursday, while Virtual Academy students will test on Wednesday. We wish all students the best of luck and we know you will do great!
It is time to begin returning any library books that students have finished. Virtual students that are coming to school for end-of-year testing may bring books at that time. Otherwise, please make arrangements to drop off your books by May 25th. If you have any questions, you may reach the library at 540-894-5457 x2080.
In mid-March, we asked all LCPS families to select a learning model for the upcoming year. We’re pleased to say that, thanks to your support and participation, a learning model has been selected for every student for the next school year.
Moving forward, we also want to provide you a window of flexibility to revise your decision if you would like. So, if you selected the face-to-face model, but would now rather have your student attend LCPS Virtual Academy, or vice-versa, please visit our division website and complete the form or contact our school office by Friday, May 7th.
Again, if you selected one learning model for your child for next year, but would now like to select the other learning model, please visit our division website and complete the form or contact our school office by Friday, May 7th.
If you are satisfied with the learning model you selected, no action is required moving forward.
On May 5th, we celebrate School Nurse Appreciation Day, as we honor Nurse Spencer and all of the nurses throughout TeamLCPS. We thank each of you for helping to keep us healthy and for your continued support of our students and staff.
On May 7th, we celebrate School Lunch Hero Day. With over 780,000 meals served this school year, we say a huge thank you to the Bobcat Nation cafeteria team and the cafeteria teams of all of TeamLCPS. To see this team in action is truly amazing.
Finally, tonight, for our 8th-grade parents/guardians of blended model students, be on the lookout for information related to graduation coming home with students on Monday and Tuesday of this week. For our 8th-grade parents/guardians of virtual academy students, information was mailed out on Friday. Additional information will be coming through email on Tuesday.
Excelling together, we will. Let’s continue to make safe and healthy choices. I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457. Have a great night!
