LCMS Principal Update for Jan. 2, 2022
Good Sunday evening Bobcat Nation and happy new year! This is your principal, Shaun Woody. I hope that everyone has enjoyed a relaxing winter break and holiday season with family. I am calling tonight with a preview for the week of January 3rd.
As a reminder, all students return to the building and the virtual setting on Wednesday, January 5th. We look forward to welcoming everyone back on Wednesday and we wish all students a successful second semester.
With safety being our top priority at TeamLCPS, I ask that students continue to perform self-screenings each morning before coming to school. If your child is sick, feeling sick, or has been around someone who has been sick, it is best for them to stay at home. We must continue to work together to ensure the safety of all.
On January 5th, our sixth-grade students will change to their fourth rotation within the Exploratory Wheel. Students will be given updated class schedules during fourth period on January 5th to prepare for the change in their fifth-period class. In addition, faculty/staff will ensure that students know the location of their new fifth-period class and assist in the hallways during the class change.
With the start of the third nine weeks on Wednesday, I encourage all students and parents to continue to be in contact with teachers concerning academic progress. I also encourage parents to utilize our Parent Portal information system to stay up to date on academic progress. Information regarding how to access Parent Portal will accompany student report cards, as face-to-face students will be receiving their second nine weeks report cards on Friday (7th). In addition, Virtual Academy students will have their report cards mailed home on Friday.
Wednesday, January 12th, will serve as an Asynchronous Learning Day and students do not report to school. Bobcat Nation students and staff will be participating in a community service activity this day as a way to give back to our amazing and supportive community. For this community service project, we will be volunteering at the Louisa County Animal Shelter, English Meadows Senior Living, and Louisa County Parks, Recreation, and Tourism. This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community.
Students who are participating in this activity will meet at the stadium parking lot at 11:45 a.m. and will ride a school bus to the locations. All students who participate in the activity must ride the school bus that will be accompanied by adults. We will return to the stadium lot at 2:15 p.m. for parent pick-up
If your child is interested, please complete, sign, and return the emailed permission slip to the LCMS main office no later than Monday, January 10th. Please note that if your child wishes to attend the community service activity at the Louisa County Animal Shelter, the Junior Volunteer Waiver Form must also be completed, signed, and returned. Forms will also be available in the main office for students to pick up.
We will be starting track conditioning on January 25th for any student who may be interested. Conditioning will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays and a VHSL physical form must be on file to participate. For more information, please email LCMS Athletic Director, Amy Wilson ([email protected]).
Finally tonight, we wish our athletic teams that are in action this week the best of luck.
Excelling together, we are Bobcat Nation! I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457. Have a great night!
