Good Sunday evening Bobcat Nation.  This is your proud principal, Shaun Woody.  I hope that everyone has enjoyed a relaxing weekend with family.  I am calling tonight with a preview for the week of January 31st

Parents/Guardians, I want to thank you for ensuring that your child continues to perform self-screenings each morning.  If your child is experiencing COVID-like symptoms, please keep him or her at home and call the school to alert us.

Also, please have a conversation with your child about mask-wearing before coming to school tomorrow.  As principal of Bobcat Nation, I strongly recommend our students continue to wear their masks at school.  While we are still seeing several cases per day of COVID-19, having your child wear his/her mask can make a difference with being quarantined due to being a close contact, and/or being exposed to COVID-19.  So again, I strongly recommend that your child continue to wear his/her mask when coming to school at this time.  If you have questions, please feel free to contact me.

Throughout the month of February, we celebrate Black History Month.  During this time, Bobcat Nation will incorporate lessons and activities into the instructional day to recognize and honor the accomplishments and achievements of African-Americans throughout history.  Also, be on the lookout for a fun-filled spirit week for the week of February 14th - February 18th.

Bobcat Nation, it is time to join our school’s American Heart Challenge Team and complete “Finn’s Mission”.  This year we are going to “GLOW with HEART”!  Sign up your child to join our school team, complete the steps to “Finn’s Mission”, and be a hero for kids like our friend, Finn!  Click the emailed link to help your child join our team: http://www2.heart.org/goto/LouisaCountyMiddle.  Also, be on the lookout for information related to our American Heart Challenge that will be sent home with your child this coming week.

Interims for quarter three will be sent home on Friday, February 4th, for our face-to-face students.  For our Virtual Academy students, interims will be mailed home on Friday.

For any student interested in playing baseball this spring, conditioning will be held on Tuesdays and will begin on February 1st.  Tryouts for baseball will take place February 15th - 17th.  In addition, track tryouts will be held from February 21st - 24th.  To take part in conditioning and tryouts, students must have a current Virginia High School League (VHSL) physical on file.

Finally tonight, we wish our athletic teams that are in action this week the best of luck.

Excelling together, we are Bobcat Nation!  I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457.  Have a great night!
