Posted on 02/26/2023
LCMS Weekly Update Graphic Good evening, LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, February 27th will be a B day.

We had an exciting week last week! Captain Howard Baugh visited LCMS and talked with seventh grade students about the Tuskegee Airmen, the first Black pilots in the U.S. Students were enthralled by his stories, and they asked excellent questions! NBC12 reported a story about Captain Baugh's visit to LCMS! Click this link to check it out. Sixth grade students enjoyed a Barter Theatre show, My Imaginary Pirate! As you know, the Louisa Rotary Club is a tremendous supporter of TeamLCPS, and they have generously funded Barter Theatre performances over the years. We are appreciative of their support!

School picture day will be Tuesday, March 7th. (There is no makeup day or retakes for spring pictures.) The easiest way to order school pictures is online at mylifetouch.com with the picture day ID EVTGVPGV2.

Wednesday, March 8th will be an Asynchronous Learning Day, and Bobcat students and staff will be participating in a community service activity. We will be working together to clean up roads within Louisa County. Please complete the permission form for your child to participate, and return the form to the LCMS Main Office no later than Tuesday, February 28th. This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community, and I hope that you will consider having your child participate!

Bobcats – Do you love to perform? Maybe you belt out ballads, play an instrument, or dance? Perhaps you are a black belt in karate, love to make others laugh as a comedian, or are an amazing magician. We are looking for you! We are searching for entertainers who want to participate in the LCMS Talent Show! Tryouts will be held on Wednesday, March 22nd in the LCMS forum. If you are interested in participating, pick up a permission slip from room 622 or the cafeteria and return it by Friday, March 17th. We look forward to seeing all the talented students here at LCMS!

At LCMS, we are a proud Heart-Partner school with the American Heart Association! Every year, we focus on the importance of being KIND to our HEARTS, and others. Please help your student join our school team by downloading the American Heart Challenge app, or go to www.heart.org/AHC. When signing up, please use a parent or guardian’s email (not your student’s school-provided email address). Students who complete all of the 8 steps on their Finn’s Mission HEART gamecard, will be recognized at school as one of our Heart Heroes & will receive a special limited edition BEANIE cap! Students who raise at least $50 in life-saving donations for the mission of American Heart Association, will receive a special t-shirt, celebrating the organization helping hearts, since 1924! If you have any questions, please contact your child's Health/PE teacher.

Looking ahead, the LCMS Library will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair Monday through Friday, March 6th-10th. Students will be able to visit the fair with their English teachers on their scheduled day. The fair will also be open in the morning at 7:45 and during lunch for students who have money to make a purchase but not simply browse. The fair will be open during the Asynchronous Learning Day on Wednesday, March 8th to students and their families from 11 am to 3 pm. Please feel free to stop in and pick up some amazing new books to read!

Mark your calendars for a fun-filled evening of basketball at LCHS on Saturday, March 11th! Watch our TeamLCPS staff play against the Harlem Wizards! Who will represent LCMS? Stay tuned! Tickets are on sale now: https://pretix.eu/harlemwizards/mineralva03-11-23-06-00pm/

Louisa County Parks, Recreation & Tourism is hosting Project Glitz and Glam as a collection drive and giveaway to help local girls find the dress of their dreams! Donations are being accepted at several locations through March 6th, and the event will take place on Saturday, March 11th. They are accepting donations of prom dresses, formal gowns, bridesmaids dresses, formal shoes, jewelry, handbags, and sealed makeup. Girls will be able to preregister for a timeslot for Saturday, March 11th to pick out their 8th grade formal attire for FREE! Registration will open on February 17th. We have some EXCITING news to share with you! An official date has been set for our division-wide Rally 4 Kindness! Our Rally 4 Kindness will take place on Tuesday, April 4th in The Jungle at Louisa County High School. Every student and staff member at LCPS will be coming together for this rally as we continue to promote kindness at Louisa County Public Schools. Our Rally 4 Kindness will feature games, music, prizes, secret guests, and a whole lot more! It’s going to be a LOT of fun! So don’t forget, our Rally 4 Kindness for students and staff is scheduled for Tuesday, April 4th.

We have another great week ahead! If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
