LCMS Principal Update for Sept. 18, 2022
LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,
Monday, September 19 will be a B day. Thursday, September 22 will be Picture Day! Pictures can be ordered at lifetouch.com/ with the Picture Day ID: EVT8BMFRV.
This week is Start With Hello Week! Start with Hello Week focuses on activities to promote awareness of social isolation and encourage students to reach out to make connections with people they don’t know. Each of us has the incredible power to share kindness and create connectedness here at LCMS. Over the course of the week we will learn how to create a closer, more inclusive, and connected classroom, school, and community.
To note for the week: On Wednesday, wear green. On Thursday, wear your favorite shirt that displays something important to you. (This is also picture day.) On Friday, wear our school colors or Bobcat gear.
We will have an after-school dance on Friday, September 23 until 5:30 for our Bobcats in grades 6, 7, and 8. Permission forms must be turned in by Thursday, September 22. Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the dance. The $10 fee will include admission to the dance and one student admission to the LCHS Varsity home football game against Charlottesville in the Jungle! Kickoff for the game will be at 7:30 and gates will open at 6:00. Parents/guardians will pick up students from the dance at 5:30 at the cafeteria entrance of LCMS, which is accessed in the side parking lot. The football game ticket will be given to students when they are picked up from the dance. We are excited to have some social time with our Bobcats, followed by cheering on our Lions in the Jungle!
Friday, September 23 will be Hat Day! Students may pay $1 upon arrival at school to wear a hat for the whole day! Proceeds of the day will be used for our float in the Hometown Homecoming Parade later in the fall!
This past week, our school counselors presented lessons on coping skills. The goal of the lessons was to provide strategies and empower students to manage stress in healthy ways. Ask your student about the Be Well Bobcats Card they received during the lesson. Together, we can encourage healthy strategies to manage stress.
Bobcat students and staff will be participating in a community service activity on Wednesday, October 5, an Asynchronous Learning Day, as a way to give back to our supportive community. For this community service project, we will be working together to clean up roads within Louisa County. This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community. If your student would like to participate, please complete the permission form, as a form must be on file to attend. Please return this permission form to the LCMS Main Office no later than Wednesday, September 28, 2022.
We are excited for a great week ahead! If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
