LCMS Principal Weekly Update

LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, December 5th will be a B day.

Our Bobcats will take the Math SOL Growth Assessment on Tuesday, December 6th. We will have an alternate bell schedule that day for testing. It is always important for students to bring their fully charged Chromebook to school each day, and it is especially important on SOL testing days. Please support your child in having a daily routine of charging their Chromebook each night and putting it in their backpack to bring to school each morning.

There will be an LCMS Parent Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, December 6th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the LCMS Forum. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for January 11th, February 8th, and March 8th. I will add that “Parent Advisory Council” sounds like a fancy term that means a big commitment, but it really just means an opportunity to meet with me along with other parents to hear about what is going on at LCMS, as well as brainstorm and discuss future opportunities. Snacks and drinks will be provided! Please let me know if you would like to join us!

On Friday, December 9th, we will have an Olweus lesson and we will wear our LCPS kindness shirts!

Did you know that LCMS has a Little Library in front of the school? The Little Library is a free book exchange. If you see something you would like to read, take it! When you’re finished, share it with a friend, bring it back here, or leave it in another Little Library. You may also donate books to our Little Library! Happy reading, Bobcat community!

Check out the December LCPS Attendance Newsletter. As always, students should stay home when they are sick, but should attend school when possible. Students who have 17 or more absences in a given year, whether they are excused or unexcused absences, are considered chronically absent and are subject to being retained. Students may need to attend after-school study hall sessions to reduce total absences. We hope to see our Bobcats at school each day ready to learn.

Looking ahead, we will have an LCPS Holiday Spirit Week next week, December 12th-16th. On Monday, wear your favorite holiday shirt or dress like a holiday character. On Tuesday, wear your favorite holiday accessories. On Wednesday, wear your favorite holiday sweater. On Thursday, wear flannel or pajamas. On Friday, wear fun and festive holiday wear. Email your name, school, and festive photo to [email protected] each day for the chance to win a secret prize!

Continuing to look ahead, outdoor track conditioning will begin on January 10th and continue every Tuesday and Thursday. Tryouts for outdoor track will take place February 20th-22nd. Letters will go home on February 24th. A current VHSL physical dated after May 1, 2022, is required for all conditioning and tryout events. Please see our LCMS athletics website for more information.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
