LCMS Principal Weekly Update for Oct. 16, 2022
LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,
Monday, October 17th will be a B day.
Report cards were sent home with students on Friday. Parent-teacher conferences will take place on Tuesday, October 18th from 3:45 to 7:00 for walk-in appointments. I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to stay connected with your child’s teachers about your child’s academic progress.
Also, with parent-teacher conferences taking place, we will not have Extending Learning after school on Tuesday, October 18th.
Our LCMS wrestling coach, Mr. Jonathan Wagoner, will have an interest meeting during WIN block during the school day on Monday, October 17th. Any students interested in hearing more about wrestling may attend the informational meeting. An announcement will be made with the time and location.
We will have a Crazy Sock Day on Wednesday, October 19th! During the month of October, LCMS continues to collect NEW socks, hats, gloves, scarves, and other winter clothes to donate to families in our community for SOCKtober. All items must be new and can be donated in bins located in the cafeteria. Students should donate to their homeroom hallway’s bin so that hallway earns the points! The winning hallways will earn a Walk and Talk on the LCHS track! Collection will run through Friday, October 28th.
Thursday, October 20th is fall picture make-up day.
Earlier this weekend, you should have received an email from our school division concerning internet connectivity. The Virginia Department of Education is currently doing a study concerning this topic, so we are looking to collect the most up-to-date information we have for our families. Please take a moment to complete the brief survey; it shouldn’t take more than a minute. If you do not see the survey in your email, we have also posted the link on the home page of our school website. Survey responses are due by October 23rd.
An informational night will be held on Tuesday, October 25th at 7:00 pm in the LCMS forum for 8th graders and parents interested in learning more about the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School. Seventh grade families are welcome to attend to get a jump start for their 8th grade year. Wanda Elliott, BRVGS Director, will present about the program and answer any questions students or families may have. Please reach out to Mrs. Floyd at LCMS or Mr. Ryan at LCHS for more information.
At Louisa County Public Schools, we have a deep appreciation for our military and the veterans who have fought for the freedoms we enjoy each day. As we approach Veterans Day, we invite our Bobcat families to fill out a nomination form recognizing members of your family or friends group that are veterans. Our Bobcats will be writing letters of appreciation and we will be mailing the letters to all who are nominated. Please complete the Honoring our Veterans Form to nominate veterans you know and include their mailing addresses for them to receive a letter from our Bobcats. You can also upload a photo to be included in a special slideshow.
The Virginia Department of Education has asked all school divisions to share information concerning the Child Tax Credit for low-income families. The deadline to apply for this credit is coming up on November 15th, so be sure to visit our school website, where we have posted a link with more information.
There is an exciting opportunity for students through an offering from Virginia State University on Saturday, November 5th. If interested, check out our website for details!
Looking ahead, we will have an LCMS Spirit Week October 24-28. Take a look at the flyer to start planning your outfits!
