LCMS Principal Weekly Update for Oct. 1, 2023
Posted on 10/01/2023
Good evening, LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,
Monday, October 2nd will be an A Day.
The LCMS Library will be hosting the Scholastic Book Fair from October 2nd to October 6th. Students will be able to visit the fair with their English teachers on their scheduled day. The fair will also be open in the morning at 7:45 and during lunch for students who have money to make a purchase but not simply browse. The fair will be open for a family night on Wednesday, October 4th to students and their families after school from 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Please feel free to stop in and pick up some amazing new books to read!
We are excited about our first LCMS club meetings during WIN Block on Wednesday! Be sure to ask your Bobcat what club they will be in this year!
As you know, each October we celebrate one of our favorite annual traditions: KINDNESS MONTH! We celebrate because there is nothing more important than being kind and treating others with respect. This year, during the month of October, our entire school division will be participating in our latest initiative, Operation Kindness, through which we will be honoring members of the military for their service to our country! Each week, we’ll be working together on a project to make this happen, like writing Thank You cards, putting together care packages, creating a patriotic mural, and hosting a coin drive. For the first week of Operation Kindness, we will be creating Thank You cards for members of the military. It is so important that we say thank you because the freedoms we enjoy each day are made possible by the brave men and women who serve our country. The cards we are creating this week will be distributed to veterans throughout our community and country as we spread Kindness near and far. Click here to read more about the Operation Kindness initiative!
We will have an LCMS Spirit Week this week! Take a look at the flyer to participate each day.
Monday: Pajama Day
Tuesday: Twin Day
Wednesday: Jersey Day
Thursday: Tropical Day (Hawaiian/beach theme)
Friday: Pink Out, plus Hat Day ($1)
*Students may pay $1 upon arrival at school to wear a hat for the whole day! Proceeds of the day will support our Student Council Association!
We hope to see our Bobcats at the Hometown Homecoming Parade in Mineral on Thursday, October 5th!
We will have an after school dance on Friday, October 6th until 5:30. Permission forms must be turned in by Thursday, October 5th by 1:20. Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the dance. The $10 fee will include admission to the dance and one student admission to the LCHS Varsity home football game against Orange in the Jungle! Kickoff for the game will be at 7:30 and gates will open at 6:00. Parents/guardians will pick up students from the dance beginning at 5:30 at the cafeteria entrance of LCMS, which is located on the side of the school. Parking is very limited in the side lot. Please use the Bus Garage Road entrance, park in the front lot, and walk around to the side entrance. We are excited to have some social time with our Bobcats, followed by cheering on our Lions in the Jungle!
Student picture orders/proofs arrived Friday for families who ordered them. Fall pictures are included in our annual yearbook, so students who did not have their picture taken are encouraged to participate in the makeup picture day, which will be on Wednesday, October 25th. There will also be an opportunity for those who ordered pictures to have their picture retaken on that day. The picture order or proof must be brought back on retake day for a student to have a retake.
We will have an Asynchronous Learning Day on Wednesday, October 18th. LCMS Bobcat students and staff will be working together to clean up roadsides near our school. This is an excellent opportunity for students to be involved in a service project that benefits our community. Lunch will be provided in appreciation for students’ efforts! Please complete, sign, and return the permission form to the LCMS main office by Friday, October 13th to participate!
If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
