LCMS Principal Update for Oct. 18, 2020
Good evening Bobcat Nation. This is your principal, Shaun Woody. I hope you all have enjoyed this Fall weekend with family. I am calling tonight with a preview for the week of October 19th.
This past Thursday, LCMS students, faculty, and staff celebrated healthcare workers as our #Louisa Leads: Our Community Comes First initiative continued. A group of staff members visited Louisa Health and Wellness and shared student-created thank you cards and postcards. In addition, a basket containing a “We Will” shirt and food treats were given as a token of appreciation for all that they do to keep our community safe and healthy. This upcoming week, we will honor law enforcement with a visit from the Virginia State Police to LCMS. We also extend a huge thank you to our very own School Resource Office Corporal Harris.
With the first nine weeks ending on October 9th, report cards for the first nine weeks marking period will be given to students on Monday the 19th, and also on Tuesday the 20th. Virtual Academy students will have their report cards mailed home on October 19th.
From October 19th to November 20th, LCMS will be holding a “Stuff the Turkey Food Drive”. We are asking that students and staff bring in canned foods and other non-perishable items to support the Louisa County Resource Council.
On Wednesday, October 21st, LCMS will be offering picture makeups and retakes from 8:00am - 4:00pm. Please contact the front office to sign up for a time slot. It is imperative that you are on time for your designated time slot and remain in your vehicle until about 2 minutes before your picture is to be taken. Please enter through the main entrance of LCMS. Parking is available in the bus loop. All students/parents will need to wear masks upon exit from the vehicle and within the building. In addition, we will also take students’/parents’ temperatures, using non-touch thermometers, before entering the building. We do ask that you self-screen before coming to picture day.
The Positive Home, School, and Community Correlate has extended our Bobcat Family Spirit Photo Contest until October 23rd. We want to see how much Bobcat spirit our LCMS families have. Please send us your most spirited Bobcat Family photos in all of that amazing green, gold, and Bobcat gear! Yes, adults, we need you in those pictures, too! Please be sure to include the name and grade level of your middle school child. Photos should be submitted to [email protected] by October 23rd at midnight. Prized will be awarded to the top three photos. Also, get ready for Bobcat Bingo in November!
Louisa County High School is holding its first pumpkin carving contest! The contest is open to all students, at all schools. Get your pumpkin, carve your best design, take a picture and submit to [email protected] by October 23rd with your name and school. Winners will be announced on October 30th. Pictures and voting will be online at lchsnews.com and there will be prizes for 1st and 2nd place for each school. #Team LCPS Pumpkin Carving Contest.
On October 28th, from 1:00pm - 7:00pm, Louisa County Middle School will be holding virtual parent-teacher conferences. If you are interested in having a conference, please reach out to your child’s teacher to schedule a time slot. Conferences will be held through Zoom, Google Meet, by telephone, or another convenient option. Parents of students who received a D or F on their report card for the first nine weeks will be contacted by the teacher to set up a conference.
Finally tonight, the LCMS PTA is dedicated to promoting children's health, well-being, and educational success through strong parent, family, and community involvement. We invite you to join us in our support of our students, teachers, and our school. Please look for the membership form in your child's report card, and once you've joined, be on the lookout for communication and meeting announcements.
As always, I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457. Have a great night!
