LCMS Bobcat Parents and Families,

Monday, October 10th is a Teacher Workday and there will be no school for students. Tuesday, October 11th will be a B day.

There will be an LCMS Parent Advisory Council meeting on Wednesday, October 12th from 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm in the LCMS Forum. Follow-up meetings are scheduled for November 9th, December 7th, January 11th, February 8th, and March 8th. Please contact me if you are interested in serving on the LCMS Parent Advisory Council.

The Lions Club will be coming to LCMS on Wednesday, October 12th for hearing and vision screening for 7th grade students.

As we celebrate Kindness all throughout the month of October, don’t forget that our division-wide Rally 4 Kindness is coming up on Thursday, October 13th. We will be gathering together as one team and as one school division in The Jungle on Thursday as we promote kindness in our schools, our families, our communities, and ourselves! The Rally 4 Kindness will feature games, music, prizes, secret guests, and a whole lot more! So students, don’t forget, our Rally 4 Kindness is Thursday! Get ready for a great time!

We will have an after-school dance on Friday, October 14 until 5:30 for our Bobcats in grades 6, 7, and 8. Permission forms must be turned in by 1:20 (the end of lunch shifts) on Thursday, October 13. Registrations will not be accepted on the day of the dance. The $10 fee will include admission to the dance and one student admission to the LCHS Varsity home football game against Western Albermarle in the Jungle! Kickoff for the game will be at 7:30 and gates will open at 6:00. Parents/guardians will pick up students from the dance at 5:30 at the cafeteria entrance of LCMS, which is accessed in the side parking lot. Parking is limited in the side lot. It is recommended that you park in the front lot and walk around to the side entrance, especially if you are staying for the football game. The football game ticket will be given to students when they are picked up from the dance. We are excited to have some social time with our Bobcats, followed by cheering on our Lions in the Jungle!

Report cards will be sent home with students on Friday, October 14. Parent-teacher conferences will take place on Tuesday, October 18 from 3:45 to 7:00 for walk-in appointments. I encourage you to take advantage of this opportunity to stay connected with your child’s teachers about your child’s academic progress.

Also, with parent-teacher conferences taking place, we will not have Extending Learning after school on Tuesday, October 18.

The Piedmont YMCA is offering a Teen Leaders Club at LCMS for our Bobcats to “Hang Out With a Purpose.” Leaders Club offers support to achieve teens' goals, leadership skills, impactful community service projects, and team-building skills. The group will meet weekly at LCMS on Mondays after school until 5:45 through the school year. Participants may ride the activity bus. The cost for the year is $50 for Piedmont YMCA members and $100 for non-members. Financial assistance is available. Connect with friends and register at PiedmontYMCA.org! There will be a free ice cream social and interest meeting after school on Monday, October 17 for students to see what the program is all about!

An informational night will be held on Tuesday, October 25th at 7:00 pm in the Forum for 8th graders and parents interested in learning more about the Blue Ridge Virtual Governor's School. Seventh grade families are welcome to attend to get a jump start for their 8th grade year. Please reach out to Mrs. Floyd at LCMS or Mr. Ryan at LCHS for more information.

During the month of October, LCMS will be collecting NEW socks, hats, gloves, scarves, and other winter clothes to donate to families in our community. All items must be new and can be donated in bins located in the cafeteria. Be sure to donate to your homeroom hallway’s bin so that hallway earns the points! Collection will run through Friday, October 28th.

If you have any questions, or if we can help in any way, please call our office at (540) 894-5457.
