(The following information was emailed to 8th grade families on April 16th)
The end of the school year is fast approaching, and for our 8th grade Bobcats, that means the anticipation of culminating middle school events such as the 8th Grade Formal, the field trip to Washington, D.C., and the 8th Grade Promotion Ceremony! These are all momentous occasions, and I am excited to celebrate with our Bobcats!
8th Grade Formal: Saturday, May 13th from 7:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m. at Louisa County Middle School (Cafeteria and Gymnasium)
Theme: A Night in the Spotlight: Hollywood!
Tickets: $15/person
Permission forms and money will be collected during lunch from Monday, April 24th – Friday, April 28th.
(Permission forms and money will not be accepted after 3:30 p.m. on Friday, April 28th.)
Registration forms will only be accepted during lunch shifts. Phone registration will not be accepted. Students will not be able to attend the dance if they have not turned in a registration form. Payment for the dance is due when the form is turned in.
Dress Code: Semi-Formal
-Girls – Dress, skirt, or dress pants (no jeans or t-shirts), no midriff.
-Boys – Dress pants (no jeans or t-shirts), collared shirts/button-up shirts, tie/bowtie (optional)
Hors d’oeuvres, beverages, and snacks will be provided.
Drop-off students beginning at 7:00 p.m. at the 7th grade entrance of the middle school. Use the LCMS bus lot or the main middle school parking lot for parking. Pick up students beginning at 9:30 p.m. at the same entrance and again use the LCMS bus lot or the main middle school parking lot for parking.
Our SCA will work to transform our cafeteria and gym into a stunning Hollywood-themed setting! Parent volunteers are needed to help decorate the cafeteria and gym on the Friday afternoon before the Formal! Please contact Mrs. Barbie Banning at 540-894-5457 or

8th Grade Field Trip to Washington, D.C.: Monday, May 22nd from 6:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
-While in Washington, D.C., students will have the opportunity to explore the Washington Monument, the Vietnam/Korean War Memorial, the National Lawn, the Lincoln Monument, the Smithsonian, the National Museum of American History, the Holocaust Museum, and more. During their exploration of D.C., they will also be participating in a GooseChase that will engage students in learning more about our capital and allow us to follow up in the days after the field trip.
-The
permission form and $45.00 is due to students’ fourth period teachers by Friday, May 5th (late permission forms will not be accepted).
-Please indicate if you are interested in chaperoning on your child’s permission slip. All those who have indicated interest in chaperoning, and if payment of $30 is needed, will be contacted by April 21st.
-If your child is not going to participate in the field trip, please check “Doesn’t have permission” and have your child return this form to his or her fourth period teacher. Students who are not attending the trip will be required to attend school and will be provided with supplemental work. Students not attending school must have a written excuse in accordance with the attendance policy in order for the absence to be excused.
-Students and chaperones will need to be at LCMS (in the cafeteria) before 6:30 a.m. to depart by 6:45 a.m.
-Students will be returning to LCMS at 4:30 p.m. Please make sure transportation for your child is at LCMS by 4:30 p.m.
-Students will need to bring snacks for the bus and a bag lunch (unless they are planning to purchase lunch in Washington, D.C.)
-Students will need to dress appropriately for the trip (sneakers, comfortable clothing, sunscreen, if applicable, and a jacket.
-Students will need to be on their best behavior in order for this to be a successful trip.
-Students may bring a small bag to carry while in D.C., however, all bags will be searched by museum security upon entering any/all museums.
-Students may also bring cameras/cell phones but please be advised that any cell phones or cameras lost will be the responsibility of the student.
We are excited to take our 8th grade students on this meaningful trip!
8th Grade Promotion Ceremony: Wednesday, May 24th at 8:30 a.m. at Louisa County High School (Gymnasium)
-The ceremony will start at 8:30 a.m., and students must report to LCMS on time (by 7:55 am) to participate in the ceremony.
-Students should arrive wearing semi-formal attire:
-Boys -- pants (no jeans/shorts), dress shirt/collared shirt, tie/bowtie (optional)
-Girls -- dress/pants, blouse/collared shirt
-No flip flops, hats, hoods, or sunglasses
-Each student is permitted
three guests into the ceremony.
All individuals attending the ceremony will need to have a ticket.
-Tickets will be given to students after rehearsal on May 23rd.
-Guests arriving at LCHS will need to enter through door 34, located on the right-hand, lower level of the school. (This is also the entrance to athletic events within the gymnasium.)
-Parents/Guardians and guests will park in the lower student parking lot.
-Each student will be awarded a certificate by a member of the LCMS administrative team and have their picture taken crossing the stage.
-Following the ceremony, parents/guardians and other attendees will be invited into the LCHS cafeteria for a reception.
