Good evening Bobcat Nation.  This is your principal, Shaun Woody.  I hope you all have enjoyed a beautiful fall weekend with family.  I am calling tonight with a preview for the week of October 5th - October 9th.

This week, and throughout the month of October, we celebrate first responders with #LouisaLeads: Our Community Comes First.  Each week, we will recognize a group of first responders, and beginning on Monday we will recognize fire and emergency medical services.  For the week of October 12th, we will recognize healthcare professions.  For the week of October 19th, we will recognize law enforcement officers.  And finally, for the week of October 26th, we will recognize educators.  Students will be creating thank you cards and writing notes of appreciation that will be delivered to varying first responder locations throughout the month.  Also, if you have a friend or family member that fits into one of the categories, we would like to personally thank them for their service! Please visit the LCMS webpage to submit their information, and we will provide them with a commemorative certificate and several tokens of our appreciation. What a great way to say thank you to all of the men and women who serve our community to keep up safe.  Great job to all of you!

On Monday and Tuesday of this week, we end our “Start with Hello” initiative with superhero day.  Students are encouraged to wear their favorite superhero shirts and outfits to serve as conversation starters that could spark a life-long friendship.  We thank all of the students for their participation over the past few weeks.

Also, the LCMS virtual book fair begins on Monday, Oct. 5th, and runs through Sunday, Oct. 18th.  Students may shop the book fair from the comfort of their own home.  Beginning Monday, students may select the book fair link from either the LCMS homepage (lcms.lcps.k12.va.us) or the LCMS Library page (https://louisacountymslibrary.weebly.com/). There is no need to send money to school as everything will be handled on-line through Scholastic and your order will be delivered directly to your home.  Thank you for supporting the LCMS library book fair.

Finally tonight, we remind all parents and students that the first nine weeks marking period ends this Friday (9th).  We encourage parents/students to reach out to teachers, or administration, if we can be of assistance, or answer any questions.

As always, I thank you for your continued support and cooperation. If we can assist in any way, please contact us at (540) 894-5457.  Have a great night!
